I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

For trying to get a visible number to port fast, do both esim and physical sim work for that? What's the best way to go? I'd be putting it on my other phone only if needed and for a few minutes to make this work. Thanks.

From my experience on Tello, everything works perfectly - imessage, facetime, mms, sms, app store, etc

What happens if I don't finish the port in? Will I get charged back for the non-port in price?

Either esim or physical SIM will work.

Visible eSIM is instant service activation if you have a compatible phone and you can get your port out info right away

Otherwise you'll need to wait for physical Visible sim to come in the mail in order to finish activation and get port out info

I'm trying to get this deal by porting in a number to my existing Metro account (currently has 2 IP12's on Flex Plus), but I keep getting the "Payment Reject" screen after submitting the order, asking me to please stop at a Metro Store to complete my order? Why does this happen? I've tried multiple different credit cards/ addresses, etc.

So to make sure i understand this correctly...
I am currently a visible user who pays monthly. I could take advantage of this deal by opening a metro t-mobile account and porting over my number. Then buying the phone at 49.99. Total cost around $125-$135.
I use the iphone for a month then let it lapse (what would this mean, just not paying my bill tge second month?). Then a year later my iphone would be unlocked and i could use it with any service, even back to visible?

So, just to clarify: you can purchase this, pay for one month's service, let it lapse, and it automatically unlocks 12 months after initial activation?
My Moto phone from Metro bought more than a year ago. Still not able to unlock. "Device must be used on this phone number for 180 days" message when try to unlock

If we only use it for a month and then use it with T-Mobile postpaid line instead, will the phone work as they are both T-Mobile?

Will this work on T-Mobile after the first month? Or only the other smaller T-Mobile based services like tello or mint?

You mean 2026… because most people getting this aren't using the phone until next year
