I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

Hello, everyone. I got my phone today. But i am staying in Canada. It seems Metro doesn't have service here. My phone is showing SOS. Since i have no service, i cannot access Metro account. Tried to call customer service, but they can't do anything since they need SMS to access my account. My question is: can I just leave it like this? The second monthly fee will be charged or not? I don't think I enrolled autopay. If not paid, is there any extra charges or Metro just suspend my plan immediately? I don't need to use this phone plan anyway. All I care are the future charges and whether it will be unlocked automatically after one year. Thank you guys.

Unless activated it wont start the 1 year unlock timer, go to your emails and try to activate it from there.
One of the last email where it has shipping details will have activate button too on the bottom
If I remember correctly after the phone has been delivered 21 days later auto activation will start, I am not 100% sure on this.
By default there is no autopay enabled. So there wont be second months charge.

Was able to order the 4th ip13 today. Will deliver next Monday or so. Took me almost 2 hours. Good to know that a 5th order is possible. But I dont know if I have the mental strength to go through it again 😂

different contact info: name, phone number, email address, different shipping address (to my friend's place lol), different credit card.
Also, if you use visible, then you can change your phone number in the app if the port in failed, so no need to call Metro port in dept.

Thanks. It was activated in US. I didn't know it wouldn't work in Canada. I thought at least there should be signal in Canada. But it is kshowing no service. Wifi calling is not working neither.

Were you asked to answer questions related to your friend's identity? Was the credit card under your name? I once tried that (but used my own credit card). None of the questions was related to her. So I chose "no" to all and failed. My suspicion is that her name is very common and Metro pulled out a different person's identify.

after the unsuccessful try to order the 4th iphone 13, Metro might have blocked me from adding a new line, because the "add a new line" button disappeared, and if I go to the iphone 13 link from the metro website, it said I can't add a new line at this time. Will see if they remove the block after 24 hours or so.
My account says ineligible to add any extra lines I was never able to get more than one. My block has remained for 4 days and counting. Calling reps big waste of time. If you find a way how to become eligible to add lines again please let me know. yes I called the porting department and made sure there was no pending orders

What I did was to call the port in department and ask them to cancel my port in request. They should be able to check if there's any on hold port in request and cancel it. Then the "add a new line" button will re appear.
Every time your order hit a snag, didn't go through, etc., just call Metro port in department and ask them to cancel the request, and then you can try again immediately.

Yes it will be unlocked irrespective of its turned on or off or it being in any other country.
Only requirement, it was activated earlier when you purchased it.

Does the plan work abroad? Or do you have to pay extra?

You're lucky ATT will let you trade locked. Xfinity mobile said my locked iPhone 13 from this deal would not work for trade. Xfinity mobile does offer to pay $500 of your device payments if I Port from an outside carrier though. Does anyone know if I port from Metro into AT&T and trade iPhone 13 for iPhone 16 then I should be able to Port back to Xfinity mobile and have Xfinity mobile pay for my iPhone 16 device payments? If Xfinity mobile pays off my AT&T equipment early will the ATT device become unlocked?
