I don't get this. Why make it rain repellent and not have a hood? Isn't that the most important thing to keep dry especially in chilly weather?

Can someone explain to me why there are rain jackets out there with no hood?

Some people prefer to wear a hat with no hood (it's more fashionable too). Hoods give off a different kinda vibe. I love me some hoodie but in some situations a nice cap and a hood less jacket is more appropriate and looks a bit sharper. IMO

A cap doesn't cover nearly as much as a hood, ie your neck and ears. Cap also messes up most people's hair which combined with wet doesn't look so "sharp". Plus most caps are not water repellent.

Sure, it's a look, but I wouldn't call it a "fashionable" look but to each his own. Certainly not a look I would trade for better wet protection.

I promise you, if this had a hood, it wouldn't be 40-50% off.
Okay and I can give you situations when a hat and jacket is better lol. For example you can take a hat off and put it away when you don't need it anymore. A rain jacket isn't just for rain it's good for wind and warmth on mildly cold days when it may drizzle a bit when you don't want a full on jacket and a hood following you around all day. You don't have to buy it if you don't like it. I'm not hating on hoodies i wear them daily . But jackets like this serve a purpose too.

Hats with brims work better.

How does it work better? Water gets in the back of your neck which ultimately slides down inside your jacket into your back. The brim protects your face a little bit better I have never really complained about a wet face with any of my hooded rain jackets. You can also do cap+hood, but you can't do that without a hooded jacket.

I'd like to start a new trend where instead of thanking people for posts that make us spend more money, we sarcastically insult the OP and those like you that pushed us over the edge.

In that spirit, you both suck. 😝

Id.me discount covered the tax so I'm in for one.

The cap vs. hood is 🍿
For the record, I actually see both sides. But aside from fashion concerns (I'm old so my big goal is to remember to wear pants before leaving the house), it kinda depends on where ya live, how long you plan on being out in the rain and other things like how close you pay attention to the weather forecast. For me, I don't need to be prepared for a downpour if I'm walking the dog around the block and not g it's not currently raining so, I'm fairly sure I'd survive without a hood. I used to walk to work and sucked at paying attention to the forecast so then would probably opt for something hooded.
