That seems to be correct for this model. I couldn't find any info about an override mode on Amazon or the avapow website for the A17, or in the manual for the A17.

I would buy something else because of this. Personally I like the Gooloo series but there are many good models out there. Don't shop absolute bargain basement for devices that are missing critical features..

For $30, it's worth a try. The reviews are pretty good. If it works once it saves having to wait an hour for AAA. Also, it makes it so we won't have to push cars around to get where jumper cables can reach. That said, we have only needed a jump once or twice in the past 30 years. I have used my cables to help others in a parking lot much more often. Now, I don't have to risk damaging my vehicle to jump someone off. The jump box takes up much less room than cables.

Save your money and invest in a NOCO jump starter. Have had the same one for years used several times on one charge. Very reliable.
