That seems to be correct for this model. I couldn't find any info about an override mode on Amazon or the avapow website for the A17, or in the manual for the A17.

I would buy something else because of this. Personally I like the Gooloo series but there are many good models out there. Don't shop absolute bargain basement for devices that are missing critical features..

The vehicle will not start if it is totally dead because there is no boost on this, right?

You sure good idea? That way we dont care even if the ridding lawn mower starter is bad or not charging the battery?

I'm gonna wait for the series 2 update: Powabunga or maybe hold out for series 3 with boost: Super PowWowza

Their competitor is Gooloo, but Im holding out for their new edition: Gooloo Pew Pew or maybe the higher amp Gooloo Super Pew Pew.

There are so many generic "car starters" on Amazon.... is this considered name brand for a car starter.

I'll admit, some of the generics are dirt cheap, but who is to say this is any better than one of those?

That was my experience with a unit that worked on partially dead batteries but wouldn't start a completely dead one. AFAIC, even these cheaper units are worth having, but I invested in one with boost after that.

I love these things. Between the cold weather, not using our cars daily, leaving the occasional dome or trunk light on, phantom parasitic loads and aging batteries, they're really useful. This winter we've needed to use one several times a month. We have to park our cars on the street so no way to maintain them with a trickle charger.

FWIW we have GooLoo's, a 2000A & 3000A, and they've never failed. Also useful to inflate tires.
