I think the various Metro iPhone deals should be merged because a lot of the questions are being asked in the different threads and they're mostly relevant to all of them.

iPhone 12, 64gb, "Free" with port in and plan of $75 = $75

iPhone 13, 128gb, $49.99 with port in and plan of $75 = $125

iPhone 14, 128gb, $99.99 with port in and plan of $75 = $175

If you have a Visible line you can use a referral to get $20 off the $25 plan = $5 for the line and then you can port that into Metro.

Additional lines on Metro are $35 so add that to the cost of the phone above for the cost of additional lines. So additional iPhone 12 would be $35.

Various experiences on the success of adding lines to your Metro account, though. Some go through hell just trying to add one. Others can add three or four more.

Unlock does supposedly take a year now, and I don't think anyone can confirm yet that it will actually unlock if you get the plan/phone for the first month and then let your plan/account just die (because you don't set up auto-bill to renew after the first month unless you really want to) - but I don't think there's any reason to suspect it won't unlock.

That's the crux of it. Again, there are already a few posts existing, especially for the iPhone 12 deal, so your questions have been likely already been answered if you want to search those threads.

I'd just get the iPhone 13 for $125 (similar deal from Metro as well). The phones are nearly identical, with the same processor.

Trade in values are also very similar, with Apple offering $50 more for this (and it costing $50 more)

So 1st month 75, 2nd month 70, 10 months 25
99+ 75+ 120 (second month + downgrade) +250 (no data for 10 months)= 544 for the phone over a year then you can unlock

175 + 770 (70 monthly plan 11 months) = 945

Is this worth the hassle?

The unlock policy changed to 1 year instead of 6 months. I bought a phone after the policy changed and it unlocked after 6 months.
Gotcha. thank you.

If my math is correct, iphone 13 gives the best trade in value at Apple, provided that Metro allows adding a line and the plan got reduced.

Yes, if you are trading it to use the credit in Apple store.

For us, it is for upgrading our phones and keep them as spares to get new 15 or 16 with these trade in. For that, 12 works the best as its the lowest phone model with the highest credit ($830 on Go5G+ or Go5G Next with T-Mo). Hoping that's at least until next version comes. We will then move to 13 as the base for such deals for future upgrades.

Go5G+ or Go5G Next with T-Mo?

Man, T-mobile went from having the cheapest 'walmart' pricing to Hermès Birkin pricing in a span of a few years. Hhahahha.

If you don't mind the 36-month bill credits and have decent coverage, VZ or ATT appears to have better offers these days. For new customers, they are good options for trade in with broken phones. Combine with Sams or Costco card deals, and you are set.

I am on a reasonably discounted (6 paid, 6 free lines) Go5G+ averaging under $15/line. Had to upgrade from Magenta to Magenta Max and then to Go5G+ to make use of the full credit for trade in. With 5-6 upgrades each year, the plan upgrade in the past two years has been worth the cost. Really not sure when they will screw up Go5G+ and bring yet another premium plan.

Check the Reddit forum. For those who started out 4-5 years ago and piled on free lines, it is averaging out well. I no longer see single free lines in the past couple of years. They have all been BOGOs. T-Mo had a promo until this Thursday and started another on Friday.

If you are able to manage an Insider discount (20% lifetime), 3-line Go5G+ is $120/month and then you add BOGOs as they come along to bring the average down. Older plans with kickbacks are good for the monthly costs but phone prices are discounted only by 25-30% for trade in. There was a good deal just recently for new lines for such old plans. But they have been quite rare.

So how many phones/lines can we get with this deal? Can we do more than one line at time or wait until first phone is shipped before adding additional lines/phones?

Also if I want to do trade in at Apple store and apply it towards a new iPhone 16 is there a limit on how many phones we can trade in at one time in order to apply the $300 (Iphone 14) trade in value towards the new phone?

You need the first phone to order additional lines. Each line requires port. Account needs first line activated with 2FA code sent to phone. Once you get the first, try adding more lines. Discount likely capped at 2 per account per phone model. Each additional line $35 for service.

IIRC, up to 5-lines per account.
