I have the 1080p version and agree that the speakers are meh but my only frustration with it is that it doesn't have an aux port/optical audio/etc.

Here is a trick you can plug a USB DAC into these monitors and then use it as an auxiliary out

This really only has 3 reviews on the Samsung site and it's 1-2 stars. All others were incentivized.

I got the 32in around this time last year for $325. Typing on it right now with mac mini. You can do audio out through HDMI with arc. I'll have to try the USB DAC suggestion though I have a mac mini hooked upto it now so could just go through that... I spent way too long this morning getting mac to come up but bluetooth keyboard wasn't connecting so had to get wired.

Why are these going front page when it's available for less than 10% of population
Not every deal is for everybody. EDU/EPP in the title. If that doesn't apply to you, why even waste your time clicking on the deal?

If I see a deal on sports bras, I don't click on the thread to complain it's not relevant to me because I don't have tatas.

this is a good price. but i managed to grab the 32inch version of this last year direct from samsung edu discount for 250. i like the larger display. it has been working great - there are even updates to the monitor. you can use it like a tv which is cool

Whats wrong with M70D? It's cheaper it doesn't have the camera which I don't want anyways, and IA 32"

32" Smart Monitor M7 (M70D) 4K UHD with Streaming TV, Speakers and USB-C

SKU#LS32DM703UNXZA

Im getting it for $200.00
Both are good deals. Advantages of each that I can make out:

M7
  • Bigger screen.
  • Two HDMI ports, one being HDMI ARC - a big deal if you want to use a sound bar.
  • More USB ports - not a big deal for me b/c I'll use a USB hub regardless, but could be nice for some.
  • $15 cheaper.
  • One model year newer (2024 vs 2023). I don't know if that matters, though, b/c Samsung is pretty vague with specs, and it's not clear if there are any significant upgrades.
M8
  • Brighter screen - 400 cd/㎡ vs 300 cd/㎡.
  • Camera.
  • The M8 is ostensibly one model tier higher. Though, like the model year, it's not clear if there are any significant upgrades.
I personally like the design of the M8 a little better, but that's obviously subjective, as is green vs. white. I can't call it a pro or a con b/c the design of the M7 will be better for many.

Ultimately, I went with the M8 because the 27" size fits my desk space better. But the M7 seems like it might be the better deal if you want a bigger screen and you don't need the brighter screen to fight glare.

You can hook it up to that display and still use the trackpad and keyboard on the Air too.

If you can, I would wait for another sale on the M80D. It's $399 now, not sure if you can get some coupons to bring the price down.
How different is it from a 4K smart TV, which you can add as a monitor for your laptop?

I have a question regarding edu/epp pricing. I paid someone years ago who gave me a referral which gave me the pricing. However, that's no longer the case. Is there a certain time frame the referral last?

Can anyone comment on the quality of the camera? Doesn't need to be film quality, but I'd be using this for my work from home setup, so I want it to be decent.

Also, would this be a good screen for amateur photo editing? The rtings review [rtings.com]seems decent, but I don't know how that translate into real world use vs other screens in the price range. The only red flag I see in poor color accuracy pre-calibration. But if that can be corrected by calibration, is it an issue?

Lack of aux audio out seems like a non-issue IMO. Even if it had it, I'd still prefer to use an inexpensive USB DAC, or speaker with USB input. I can only imagine the aux out on most monitors use the cheapest, lowest quality DACs out there.
Camera is fine, it's not amazing but it's fine for a WFH set up. I use my laptop plugged into a dock closed and use the camera on this. The one caveat I will say is that it is high up and hard to angle down well with how it mounts. I got so annoyed with the default that I took a USB C cord and ran it to one of the inputs below and then taped it on so it would be at the correct angle.

In terms of photo editing - you could get by, but I find the quality (especially for 4K) not great. It's absolutely fine for office work but if you're doing heavier work - especially color heavy work (colors aren't great) - I'd look elsewhere.

I grabbed this on a deal a while back for my home office set up so trying to answer some questions and list pros cons:

Pros
-Good deal for 32" - Nice real estate space for work.
-Good set up if you want to use the Tizen interface for TV: I don't have a TV in my office but sometimes like to be on my personal PC and can use this as the TV in a very nice and convenient format thanks to Tizen. I know some people dislike it, but for this purpose it's quite nice.

Cons
-Color is okay, everything is a bit washed out even after calibration.
-4K doesn't feel as crisp as my other 4K.
-60 Hz blah, I don't game on it, but still get some stutter.
-Sound quality is sub par. Microphone on the camera is not good (I use my laptop mic and speakers for video conferences, but monitor camera).

Overall: I'm content with this purchase. Not amazing, but also was happy with the value I got on it and it fits my needs.

What is the point of this thing? It seems like a 4k 27 inch monitor with a bad mic, bad camera, bad speakers. What's the use case? It seems perfect for a college student who wants an external they can game on and then plug into their laptop - a scenario where there's little space and signal quality isn't as important as convenience?

I also see the "smart apps" which will run like crud and stop receiving updates within a year.

Is that right? Can someone explain.
