Exactly. I'd use bookshelf speakers for surrounds. Even if you are running towers as wides, they barely even contribute. It's mega overkill. The 8000F II's are supposed to be considerably better than the older 8000F's. Unfortunately, my center channel is a 504C, not a 504C II. Adorama has the 8000F in ebony in open-box condition for $290. I might have to go that route. I'm running four older Klipsch towers as my fronts and wides, and like I said, the wides are barely used with most content. I am going to sell the four towers and invest in two newer ones. I will probably eventually get something like the RP500M's for $259 a pair to run as my wides. The wides do make a difference for music, just not so much movies and TV.

Can anyone comment on how much better these will be compared to a pair Klipsch R-26Fs towers for 75% stereo music (mainly vinyl) and 25% games/films?

This was exactly the deal I was hoping would come after missing the $720 Ebay deal a month ago. RP-1200SW is supposed to arrive today and these will arrive next week to complete my setup. Will still use my RP-450C and put my RP-160Ms that were my front speakers in the rear for now.

Pretty sure the best surround speakers to get would be the RP-502S II, Walnut color currently on sale for $370 on Adorama as part of this Klipsch extravaganza that has been going on for a week. I'm very close to putting in an order for that since the size of my 160Ms would probably be an issue.

Great deal for a speaker with two 8's! This reminds me of those old Cerwin Vega speakers that were kind of party speakers.

This deal just came back, much more appropriate and half the price since it's a pair.

does anyone find this speaker too harsh or sounds normal? do you face ear fatigue after some time? I am worried that I won't be able to return this to adorama if don't like it or have to pay hefty shipping cost back to them.

The new RP series (this) is much softer than the harsher predecessor rf series. I have owned them all. But keep in mind these still have the Klipsch sound and are amazing for HT duty,.

No, they've dropped to this price a few times recently. They were even down around $370/pc a month or so ago. Still, they normally didn't drop below this price.
