it would take the place of your router. I agree with vam1, get the ax5300 for 50, much better.
I used these at my sister house with a cable modem and everything worked but her outdoor cameras or door bell would randomly disconnect. She cut over to ATT Fiber, and the built in ax radio, in the basement, has stronger single around her house and to all her cameras. Actually more stable. So, in the end, I think these always sucked but were early to market back in the day.
