$5 Cheaper than the clearance price they have been.
V-series seems to be failing as Lowes & Ace have been dumping their inventory for months. I got a set before my local Lowes sold out at $34.99.

Like most V-Series tools this kit is a rebranded product another company owned by Stanley Blacker &Decker (FACOM of France)
Despite being made in Taiwan the quality is less than ideal.
They did as little chroming & machining as possible.
The inside is poorly painted and starts to come off with any use, will be hard to keep them from rusting.
The corners of the square drive are an unrounded sharp 90° & not chamfered at all which makes them more prone to breaking.
If they do fail you are likely going to be out of luck getting a warranty on a discontinued product.

While these would not be good everyday tools for a mechanic this is a compact well-cased kit & very handy to carry in a metric vehicle.

It really was $140 for years.

Which is why no one who buys cheap tools at Lowes bought it.

Look how much the FACOM branded set sells for:

No way this is $139 retail. Who is Lowe's trying to fool?

Idk why people are downvoting you, but your analysis is spot on. This kit is more of an emergency set in the back of your trunk than a everyday set. It is compact, doesn't weigh a lot.
You're better off getting a complete set with all the sizes at home than use this as your main.
Now I'm really debating about buying this set and putting in the back of my trunk. I'll just switch out the ratchet to another brand.

Craftsman hasn't been "good build" since well prior to Sears going out of business.

This is the best and lowest price I've ever seen. Inventory seems to be limited; my local store is now OOS.

That's what I did - it's my car/backup kit. I've used it lightly several times and so far, I've liked it - both sockets and ratchet seem similar to my Icon general service set

You mean one of the last sears found in the entire country? You mean Sears home goods stores that were a shell of Sears while it was still in business and is now just a lower tier ace hardware by another name?

This set will become a collectors item due to being a special edition by Facom and the unique case design. At least it will definitely hold its value. One thing I wish they did is to make the ratchet serviceable by adding a c-clip. For this price, I will get another set as a backup.

I hope they will lower the 1/4 sets to $20. currently it's $30. Still a little too high for what you get. But these v-series sets do have very well made and finished sockets and the case design is a classic.

Hey! Awesome sets! Thanks for taking time to post, OP! Repped. Definitely concur with posters vid1900 and Fondgain about Facom "Detection Box" tie. The case is very cool. Heck of a price vs Facom sets. Availability certainly is YMMV. All my closest stores were OOS, but found some in 4th choice.

Love that the metric set has 6 point in 8mm-->22mm with no skips. I also like that the two extensions have black knurled quick-release feature that keeps sockets held on wicked tight and then easily released with a simple pull of quick-release. Works great.

Way good for that👍 I always use 6 point socket on drain plugs to avoid rounding off the plug edges. 12 point sockets should be avoided, if at all possible, for this application.
