I have had this exact model for like 7 or 8 years now.
I also have a few toro power shovels that are ancient and those have plastic augurs too and they are fine, one is a little scraped because I used it to scrap the pavement of ice a S ton of times
It still works fine but I don't use those old toro shovels too much now that I got this green works because they are heavy and and you have to just lift it unlike the greenworks that you can just push.
The trick with the greenworks is to ram it hard into high snow if you have a big drift and then pull back and ram it again, rinse and repeat.
These things work great and I love mine and its so much easier that dealing with a two stroke engine and gas etc.
I did run over the cord a couple times and I was panicking because it was all wrapped around the augur and I was sure I was going to have to take it apart but I was able to get it off without taking anything apart and the cord is still good too, no damage.
Has the augur been metal it would have been a really bad end.
