About this Game:
- Blasphemous is a punishing action-platformer that combines the fast-paced, skilled combat of a hack-n-slash game with a deep and evocative narrative core, delivered through exploration of a huge universe comprised of non-linear levels.
- A foul curse has fallen upon the land of Cvstodia and all its inhabitants - it is simply known as The Miracle.
- Play as The Penitent One - a sole survivor of the massacre of the 'Silent Sorrow'. Trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, it's down to you to free the world from this terrible fate and reach the origin of your anguish.
- Explore this nightmarish world of twisted religion and discover its many
secrets hidden deep inside. Use devastating combos and brutal

rosary beads and prayers that call on the powers of the heavens to aid
you in your quest to break your eternal damnation.

Also, it's very gory (especially for the art style) and the story is super dark.

The gameplay is solid and the moveset is decent if not perfect. It's no Hollow Knight but it is something to pass the time if you have the itch. There's obviously a dark religious aesthetic to the game if that is a problem or a bonus for you. On that note, the bosses were more interesting for the "I wonder how messed up they made this guy look" element than difficulty. Games like Hollow Knight punish attempts to spam down a boss. There were multiple bosses in this game where I stood in one place and hit up attack repeatedly to kill the boss before it did much. But it otherwise hits the right notes in terms of gear, progression, easter eggs, and even does that annoying Dark Souls thing where there's a random NPC you meet and meet again and go looking for to find out what happened to them...
Anyway, worth $5 imho.
My biggest complaint is the jumping and climbing/hanging from ledges aspect. It constantly grabs when you don't want it to, but then constantly misses when you actually try to make jumps. It felt like the controls dont use diagonals for movement which made the platforming aspect frustrating. Everything else is above average though. Its good enough that I'll buy the second game and dlc when it's cheaper.
Also the bundle with both games is on sale for ~$23ish as well, but i think during sales, it's slightly cheaper to buy em separately.
