This is the best deal I've seen for 24TB from Seagate compared to WD. Hell, this price at 24TB is better than what I've seen WD offer for 22TB. However, I have a love and hate relationship w/ Seagate: I prefer Seagate's 2.5" drives compared to their 3.5" drives due to their 3.5" drives having a higher chance of failure from my experience.

I have about 18 Seagate drives in my server ATM and while yes, some have died, none died within the first several years and I hit these things pretty hard. Their nas drives are good drives.

This Amazon reviewer says it's an EXOS 24X, but he's in Canada so there may be some differentiation based on country, although I doubt it:

you can't beat this price for 24th this same model elsewhere is around $500 including western digital versions, do a low effort google search to see

Don't know harddrives, but I returned a camera lens and was charged a restocking fee a few years ago. The new lens was much cheaper than even with the fee + shipping so I returned it. You should call them and find out. I think you can't save anything when even just considering the shipping costs. However, if you need the extra 4TB, then I'd definitely go for it. Life's a pain when you need to run more drives than necessary.

these come with CMR drives, the 20TB version recent FP deal came with a POS SMR

I've been building PCs since my first 75 MHz pentium way back in the day.

No drive manufacturer has been less reliable for me than Seagate, and many have echoed this.

Seadead! in my closet there is a stack of dead hdd and majority are Seagate. Lost 1-2 wd in the past decade vs 6-8 seagate. The current 8tb external starting to act funny and disconnect after using it for a while. I barely use it except 4-5x a year for backup. Just bought a new WD. All my drive in my are wd red nas Screw seadead!!

I have 32 x 5TB Seagate 2.5" drives in 4-disk RAID-10 groups, with each LVM volume striped across 2 arrays for some additional performance. Can sustain 250-300 MB/s writes across 4 Gbps fiber channel to the Hyper-V cluster VMs, which is plenty fast enough for WORM.

I would have stuck with them, possibly even been ballsy enough to stripe the LVM across 24 disks if they would have released a 6 TB model.
