The lowest price for 24TB by a long shot, especially if it's an EXOS.
Instant purchase, and going straight into my Unraid NAS.

I've been building PCs since my first 75 MHz pentium way back in the day.

No drive manufacturer has been less reliable for me than Seagate, and many have echoed this.
Have you bought any IBM hard drives in late 1999 early 2000? Those are disasters. Quantum was way better.

Source? I haven't seen any reports of that. There's been plenty of debate as to whether they're HAMR, but that's a totally different thing.
i bought one i am the source

they come with CMRs exo

the 20TB is SMR , seagate is remaking SMR trash drives. it was a FP deal like 240 after tax.

i manage over 1PiB i know what i am talking about

Based on recent history, do people think the "more consumer friendly" and flexible retailers will match prices shipped before this option is over?

The b&h terms and conditions don't seem very fast or trouble free should a replacement be needed or there is some issue...

Biased to WD also, had Many different sizes and brands over many years, only ever had seagate drives die on me...but willing to give them another shot at the price per TB for large single drives based on people saying they are essentially statistically equally reliable currently.
Having managed over 100 drives , i had 2 seagates go bad and no WDs yet, power on is 4+ years all enterprise sata drives.

Seagates were probably damaged from shipment. Both companies make solid CMR drives and I prefer the seagates over WD since they go on sale more often,

Especially from serverpartsdeals , manufacture refurbs are working great for me . bought 5k dollars worth of exo 18TB , firmware is redone by seagate and never had a issue yet. I am sure more issues may arrise on year 5-6 but by then we will have 26TB under 300.00

i manage over 1 PiB

And is it a HAMR drive? Can you take a pic of the label or see if it mentions "Class 1 consumer laser product"? Thanks for the info thus far CTRFK8. If it's an EXOS drive at that capacity then I am assuming it is but just want to check.

Micro-USB? How old is this thing?
I don't have this drive but I have a 5TB, and 2 generations of 8TB drives from this series which use the same interface. The interface is probably certified data speeds faster than what a mechanical SATA drive is able to handle, so if isn't broken, why fix it I suppose. At least it's nice to be able to swap cables if you're already invested in this eco-system. But, I agree with you in this day, it probably should just be a USB-C on both ends.

Microcenter B&M has it for the same price [microcenter.com], if you prefer to purchase in-store and you're not in NYC.

Whos the nut job downvoting everyone's comments?
I think it would be an interesting stat if you could see either total up & downvotes on a profile, or even just a ratio. It could flush out those who go through entire threads downvoting

the 24TB is Exos
the 20TB on FP Slickdeals was a SMR . They are remaking them. I cannot take a picture as the drive is now in my unraid server.

HAMR is the new tech for seagate t 30TB+ but all those drives are not available yet to consumers.

These are X24 Exos CMR from B&H

20TB externals are SMR! Frown

These arent HAMR.

they are x24 exos

HAMR is like 30TB+ from what i read online

also some of these drives could be returns RMA from Seagate where the label was never removed and firmware erased

My drive had a piece of tape and Taiwanese paper saying QC checked and the drive had like 16 hours on it when i checked it. I never seen this before in my life

please update when someone receives the drive. Here's hoping it's an EXOS or Ironwolf
EXOs

I have seen alot of 18TB externals at one time where they put Ironwolf. Those drives are worse and slower but are still CMR.

The 20TB on FP slick deals at best buy was 240 after tax and was a SMR crap drive. I am selling mine or returning it idk
