Spent a lot of time adding a few smaller items only to bail on the cart after a $12 shipping charge killed the deal.

I got a postcard in the mail about this sale. I needed a Torrentshell jacket for a trip next week. Card indicated sale started on 1/16. Torrentshell was $179 on 1/14. I checked again and it was $106 on 1/15 (I bought it then). Checked on 1/16 and it was $125 and they were out of the size and color I got on 1/15. Just a note for anyone following these sales that you may get a better deal the day before.

Backcountry has many of the same items at same discount price with free shipping after $50. I got the R1 for same price

The prices on these things have gone up so much over the years it is hard to find value even at half off. Chouinard is worth billions for a reason.

If you happen to have a local Patagonia store. Usually discounts are better. (ie 40% vs 30% online for some items) and they can always order sizes and colors not available in store for you without the $99 minimum.

If they have the size and color you want, go ahead and get it rather than wait. Already with this sale everything I'm interested in is sold out of Medium in the color I want. In fact, I decided on a backup color of the Downdrift Jacket that was in stock when I loaded the page, but when I tried to add it, it changed to "sold out". So they're going fast.
