There have been similarly priced systems with newer 13th and 14th Gen i5s in them, so this is a fairly lukewarm deal.

If it weren't for stagnation in the 4000 series pricing, you may have been able to pick this up for under $700.

Regardless, it would be hard to build something close to this price without seriously skimping on a lot of components or having to assemble it piecemeal as deals get posted.

With that said, it looks like prices on prebuilts are trending up and the release of the 5000 series may have zero impact on the price of the 4060 (at least until the 5060 comes out later this year). It might be worth buying this and sitting on it to see what happens.

You can build the same computer and instead use an rx 7600 (hell even 6650xt) instead of the 4060 and get the same performance while saving around $60, which is substantial at this price point.

At $650 this would be compelling.

The HP deal is about $100 more or a little bit less and you can get the i7. I think that's probably a better deal.

Similar performance, not the same performance.

The 4060 is still faster across the board. Plus, you miss out on playing around with RT.

At $650, they're selling it at cost. $699 would be way more likely if prices on everything weren't about to go through the roof.

The 4060 is slightly more powerful than the 7600, I will give you that. If somebody is fine paying a 20% premium for less than 10% performance increases, thats on them.

Nobody is buying a 4060 or 7600 for ray tracing, its a moot point. Nvidia is the play if you want RT, but this card isnt it. If you enjoy playing Cyberpunk on medium to low at 1080p60(probably less) fps and relying on dlss and frame generation, I guess it works. They are both solid 1080/1440 cards, nothing more nothing less. If you care about that level of fidelity, you are looking for something in the 4070 range bare minimum, realistically a 4080.

Bottom line to people on a budget, this is a lukewarm deal, keep your eye out unless you are desperate for an entry level system right now.

Don't buy a 4060 if you are interested in RT. This card doesn't break 60 fps on the toms hardware hierarchy with RT on 1080p MEDIUM.

I feel like this should be $600 or less with these specs to constitute a slick deal.

An i7 doesn't help in gaming. Spend the $100 on graphics.

Do you go to restaurants and tell the people eating pasta that they could save $3 by making it home?

As someone whose only use case is photo and video editing. Is it better to get a 12 gb 3060 over a 8gb 4060?

You are on a website created to save people money, what a stupid reply. Saving $50 on a $700 purchase is meaningful to a lot of people believe it or not.

I am looking for a 16GB memory module for my Gaming desktop. The current 16GB moduler I have is Golden Empire CL38-44-44 D5-5200. Where can I buy another 16GB module of this?

Are there any other modules that are compatible with this RAM, which I can add to this computer.

Appreciate people's response

I just meant that for 98%+ of users, an i7 carries no benefit over an i5. Most people with an $800 budget instead of $700 should focus on upgrading their graphics or increasing their storage.

I haven't needed an i7 since I ran structural analyses working in engineering. One could argue it could benefit some of my video editing, but I only compile one or two videos a month, so it would be for fun more than utility.
