🤔 works out to be $5/watchable episode 🤔

Mostly joking— I'll watch paint dry so I'm just trying to pretend to be overly discerning since this is the internet

For anyone who hasn't seen all the seasons, season 1 is excellent, the real draw. Few shows have casting and performances this strong. Writing is mostly great, with a little bit of cheese, but in a fun way. It's such a strong season, it really made the show a hit. However, this is an anthology series where seasons are loosely associated, so each season must stand on its own.

Season 2 is easily the worst. Rushed story that needed more time from the writers, and poor casting choices for at least a couple major characters. There are a few good performances, but they couldn't save the season. It's not a complete write-off, and has flashes of promise, but it's a disappointment by the end.

Season 3 is solid, and would have been more celebrated had it been another show. Casting was great and the writing was much more grown up than season 2. Not perfect and perhaps a less satisfying conclusion than season 1, but still a highly recommended watch.

Thanks. I just finished watching S1 on streaming (Max) and wasn't sure to start the other seasons based on the cast change. Any opinion on S4 with Jodie Foster?

I was so excited for it, but ultimately let down. Foster is excellent, just about a perfect choice. Several members of the cast are solid. The locations are great. I love anything set in the arctic or antarctic.

Unfortunately, the writing was lazy, with lots of cliche, "evil corporation" bits. Good villians have realistic motivations, and I felt even a comic book villian was more nuanced than the eventual reveal. I don't want to spoil it because I still kind of recommend it.

Overall, it's still better than season 2. There are enough flashes of brilliance to make it worth a single watch, but I won't be rewatching it like I have with Season 1. I have now seen it at least 4 times, lol. It's just so quotable, and has so many great scenes.

My tier list is S1 / S3 / S4 / S2.
