Also, the poster is newish so might not know this, but "$ off" or "% off" posts aren't done here because they're not useful. It doesn't mean anything, and those offers are often deceptive.

At least one of the prices should be in the title and in the post. So it may be how the post was done, and the fact that it wasted a lot of peoples time, as much as this specific deal

I used deluxe with a home based business and also buying & selling stock.
TT Deluxe may tell you while entering info you should upgrade to Premier. Just ignore and proceed with Deluxe

This Costco offer for TurboTax Deluxe + State at $45 ($56-$11) is essentially the same as the Amazon offer in the link from last year but includes a $10 TurboTax credit (e.g. to e-file state taxes) instead of a $10 gift card.

How much you want to bet that Amazon posts its sale the day Costco's offer goes live.

is that because its a Costco version or because its a desktop version? I've always used the online version so trying to figure out what options i have now
Assuming you're doing your taxes on the same computer where you stored the previous years information from TurboTax, any version of TurboTax should be able to load the information from the previous year with no issues. Just make sure the files from the previous year are available when you run TurboTax for this year's returns.

Is there a way to NOT tie the desktop installation to Intuit account?
I've only ever used the desktop versions and I don't believe I ever had to login to an Intuit account.

Ah hell. Just bought business from Costco last week cause I didn't want to wait to get started and needed to send out 1099's before the IRS deadline 1/31.

Why these retailers wait so long to offer these deals? (Probably to get fools like me to buy and not wait.)

Here's how to get started with TurboTax Desktop:

Download and install TurboTax Desktop
To activate your installed software, you will be prompted to sign in to or create your Intuit Account if you don't already have one.
Activate your TurboTax software by entering your license code.
Start using TurboTax.

Fidelity has 25-30 % off for their customers, Chase and wells fargo credit card got 20 $ off credit for 39.00 and above purchases , I think this might be better deal if you get the 20$ credit back from wells or chase.
The Chase offer requires purchase directly from TurboTax.com. And guess what? Their site charges $25 more than Costco.

Have an S-Corp for a small business I started last year. Does Home & Business help with both the S-corp as well my personal taxes?
Nope. You need the Business version period.

I have the same situation. LLC filing as S corp. Home and Business is for simple sole proprietorships.

I didn't think anything below Home & Business could handle and business income/expenses, and home office deductions.
It has been a couple of yrs back with the Home based business./ Retired now. But was able to deduct for space in home and depreciation on equipment, etc. with just deluxe. Now just use it for personal and stock purchases / capital gains

In-app credit is of no value in states with no state income tax, right?
Guess not if your state truly doesn't need you to file a tax return, even an informational one.

Yea. Tax season is so much fun!
Every New Year, when people are celebrating and getting drunk, I get a knot in my stomach knowing that I'll have to spend at least 30+ hours figuring out my taxes start to finish. And each minute is misery.

Thanks for that info! It is all so confusing when you take into account that the differences between the "online" and "desktop" versions. I just need to import my 1099-b. From what I have read, the desktop deluxe will work fine. Why does Intuit have to make everything so bloody complicated??

Does the business version include personal also? Or do I have to buy a business version and a personal one?
