Also, the poster is newish so might not know this, but "$ off" or "% off" posts aren't done here because they're not useful. It doesn't mean anything, and those offers are often deceptive.

At least one of the prices should be in the title and in the post. So it may be how the post was done, and the fact that it wasted a lot of peoples time, as much as this specific deal

I used deluxe with a home based business and also buying & selling stock.
TT Deluxe may tell you while entering info you should upgrade to Premier. Just ignore and proceed with Deluxe

This Costco offer for TurboTax Deluxe + State at $45 ($56-$11) is essentially the same as the Amazon offer in the link from last year but includes a $10 TurboTax credit (e.g. to e-file state taxes) instead of a $10 gift card.

How much you want to bet that Amazon posts its sale the day Costco's offer goes live.

That's true in most states (actually $25/state). In CA and several others, you can efile for free directly on the states dept of revenue website. The interface usually isn't as nice as turbo tax, but you can just do the state return in TT and transcribe the numbers.

It simply means you have to pay a fee if you efile your state income tax.

This is correct. You (annoyingly) can download 1 and only 1 state, and you can print the return for that state, but you cannot e-file the state without paying an additional $25. That feels like highway robbery to me, so I always kill a tree and use the good ole USPS for my state return.

E-filing directly with your state dept of revenue (free) might be an option to save that tree and have electronic confirmation that the filing went through (also more secure than postal mail IMO). Here's a list of states that support this:

I used it for years until 2023's filing, where TT had a great deal. I dunno why I got TT again this year as honestly HR was just as good....

Without being snarky, there's so many ways in which you could get it printed and into an envelope for likely under $2 in material costs, and FAR from the $25 total cost. It'd have to be some extreme scenario in which that doesn't work out in your favor.

I think it was about $3~ last year for me to print this out, take it to USPS, use an envelope they had, and get it certified. It's stupid cheap to do this stuff that way.
