Looking to get the premier version but wondering if the $10 can be used towards state filing?

Well it looks like this expires 02/07/2025 so you have until then to see if Amazon price matches again. 🤷 ♂️
I thought the details at the beginning said it expired 1/26? Is it confirmed to be good until 2/7? I am not a Costco member so I cannot check… my daughter (is a Costco member) was supposed to buy this and I don't think she did yet. Just wondering if she still has time…
Although I am frankly thinking I should just buy from amazon and quit waiting on her. I normally buy and share, but she said she would buy it this year and share with me 🫤

Yes it can, but you probably don't really need premier since deluxe does all the same stuff with slightly less guidance (that nobody seems to even notice since it's so minimal).

I went to Costco a couple of days ago as I also read here that the sale was onlygood till 1/26. The sale sign at the store says till Feb 07.

That's true in most states (actually $25/state). In CA and several others, you can efile for free directly on the states dept of revenue website. The interface usually isn't as nice as turbo tax, but you can just do the state return in TT and transcribe the numbers.
If one is willing to do that to save $$, seems better to just use one of the cheaper online options like CashApp Taxes, FreeTaxUSA, OnlineTaxes, etc. to e-file the whole thing for less?

Yes. For several years now. I start with turbo and then redo on cashapp. the numbers always come up as the same. Slightly more work on non traditional income on cashapp but its doable and covers many scenarios
That's a good way to double check your work as well. Discrepancies are likely to be from entry error rather than one software being more capable of generating a bigger refund.

Yes you could do that too. There's no right answer, but this is an option if you prefer this software but don't want to pay for state efile. To me, this is better than the print and mail option.

So I purchased the TurboTax 2024 Deluxe Federal plus State from Amazon. After filling everything out, TurboTax wants another $78($39 for Federal and $39 for State) to e-file my taxes. Does this sound correct?

Did you file on their website or with desktop application? TurboTax from amazon should be a desktop application. you would have to download the application and open it from your desktop

Sounds like you filled it out online instead of in the desktop software. Here's how to switch: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-...5_US_en_US

Not sure to be honest, but it would kind of surprise me if they added this recently since they're pushing people toward the more popular and more profitable online version in general. Maybe they had a lot of complaints and confusion from people that didn't know the difference.

I used Turbotax Premier in the past few years because of a rental property and mutual funds. Is it fine to use Turbotax Deluxe this year with rental property for Schedule E? If so, can I still transfer the filing information from the last year.

You're gonna need Premier or H&B if you also need to file 1099s.

Yes to all of that.
