A Visible # works fine for porting in. $5 for that after using a referral code found easily on Reddit. Google Reddit Visible referral.

I hope this is helpful for others to be well informed.

After activated, the 60-day unlock countdown begins and it should unlock automatically after 60 days pass. After the first month you do not have to pay for 2nd month if you do not want to keep their service. It will still unlock after 60 days.

The retail price for iPhone 14 is shown $399 and for iPhone 13 is shown $249. Not so bad either, without requiring to buy a plan. Does anyone know if the phone will be unlocked from the start? Am I missing something?

The terms-activated on Verizon network, if it ain't activated, meaning buying a plan, it won't unlock.

I think you mis-understand. Pay the first month, no need to pay any more. Automatically unlocks after 60 days have passed. Texting unlock can be done without service, and is not necessary for the unlock. It's informational, to give you the date of unlock. You will have to text twice to receive the unlock date.
