I hope this is helpful for others to be well informed.
After activated, the 60-day unlock countdown begins and it should unlock automatically after 60 days pass. After the first month you do not have to pay for 2nd month if you do not want to keep their service. It will still unlock after 60 days.

Im pretty annoyed about it because I really need a new phone lol
The phone is $149, but you must add the 5g plan at + $50 to get that price = $199. 1 month plan is all that's required, let it set an additional 30 days inactive for unlock.

So yeah, we got it to work after some annoying effort, all because a teenager desperately wants a modern iPhone. Apparently an 11 with a dying battery isn't good enough.
