I hope this is helpful for others to be well informed.
After activated, the 60-day unlock countdown begins and it should unlock automatically after 60 days pass. After the first month you do not have to pay for 2nd month if you do not want to keep their service. It will still unlock after 60 days.

I ported out of GV successfully last week using this phone number as account number.
They did charge my credit card and the charge even posted last week. Shouldn't they be charging only when the order ships? Thanks.
However, I'm running into issues getting a new GV number for replacement. Don't know if other people ran into problems.

You can use your old GV number (which is a TW/VZ mobile number now) to get a new GV number
You can only get one GV number per mobile number -- can't use single mobile number to get multiple GV numbers to cut down on abuse/fraud (you need a new mobile number each time)
