This deal is somewhat misleading. The image shows Premier but TT Premier is $64.99

Same price at Amazon except you get a $10 Amazon GC instead of the $10 in-product credit. I'd say the Amazon gift card is much more valuable.

Yesterday during the NFL games, Turbotax was advertising that you can file for free with them if you're a new user (ie, didn't use TT for 2023 taxes). Does anyone know which version that includes? I found a mention of it on their website, that makes it seem like the offer is distinct from the TurboTax Free Edition (that has income restrictions)

"TurboTax Free Mobile App Offer: File for free when you start and finish your own taxes in the TurboTax mobile app by February 18, 2024, 11:59pm ET. You are not eligible for this offer if you used TurboTax to file your 2023 taxes. Offer applies only to individual taxes filed with TurboTax do-it-yourself products and excludes TurboTax Live products."

Their "free" one is very limited and they still try and upsell you even if not needed. My mom fell for that and they messed her record up as well.

I would try a low cost/free one first as they do not have anything to upsell to for most of them like https://www.freetaxusa.com/, https://myfreetaxes.com/, https://cash.app/taxes, or https://www.olt.com/

And for some the IRS has a free one depending on your state and income here starting on the 27th...

It does not open till the 27th so the states on it were from 2024. Maybe more added this year?
I think the list there now is correct for this year. I believe it was only 12 states last year and this is way more.

Is the install version still different from the online version? I have tried both up until a couple of years ago and the online version is just such a better user experience that I now just pay the difference. But it seems absurd- they wouldn't keep making two different sets of this…would they?

It's the same desktop interface that's been around for at least a decade. You'd think they would sync the two, but I think instead they just don't bother to update the desktop beyond the new tax law/forms. This is only a smart part of their sales, so it's probably not worth it. Plus they can upsell you more online, collect your data, etc. On the flip side, at least it's consistent.

Federal e-file is included, state e-file is extra. The state software is included, which you can use to print and mail without paying for state e-file.

Or use your state dept of revenue website to file if supported: https://thefinancebuff.com/free-e...irect.html

Same deal available at Costco.com and in-warehouse. $64.99 - $10 in-product credit is about the same as last year. Good deal. Thanks
It is actually $45 - $10 in product credit. Thru 26th of the month.

I was disappointed in the online version this year. It doesn't show your refund amount(s) as you enter your documents, or how it changes. I guess maybe you can see before you press the file button, but I was over it pretty quick.

Paid for this desktop version much better info front and center.

I have tried twice to buy this product and Sams keeps canceling my order. I called Sams and was told someone would investigate and call me in 24-48 hours. Is anyone else having this issue?

Is there anywhere else to get this price/offer, other than Sams or Costco? Amazon isn't giving the $10 GC anymore. And Sams is being very flaky, has canceled my orders twice now.

"Deduct From Your Federal Refund: A $40 Refund Processing Service fee may apply to this payment method. Prices are subject to change without notice."

This is listed in the product description. The service fee may apply meaning an extra $40 is taken when processing returns on top of paying the software?

I think the $40 fee is only if you use your refund to pay for Turbo Tax. Seems like I remember that statement when I used the TT online version.

Do you have a local Sam's or Costco? They have the keycard in store for the same price.

I've been using online for 8 years, but as of last year I think they made hiding the refund amount a toggle. I would be very surprised (disappointed) if they removed it entirely.

if you have a question, does turbo tax allow you to connect to a tax pro to get help?
