For "dead end" spaces (i.e. powder rooms, laundry rooms) with only one means of ingress/egress (one door), this likely has all the smarts/programmability you need baked right in (multiple operation modes, timeout periods, "learning" light levels), without the need to connect to WiFi, Zigbee, etc.

EDIT: While a neutral wire is not required, a ground wire is required for these switches.

I'm a big fan of these switches – I've installed them in all my closets, the laundry room, staircases, hallways, and even the garage. They're professional-grade, designed for commercial use, and the sensor performs much better and faster than any of the "smart" motion-sensor switches I've tried. Plus, they have a higher current rating (the 3-way models, not this specific one). Some of mine have been in use for over a decade. I like them so much that I took them with me when I moved, and they're still working flawlessly in my new home.

With a 2 Amp rating, is this suitable for bathroom ceiling fan etc? Or rated only for lighting

You mean 2 amp rating (~250w), but I suspect it wouldn't have the headroom to deal with an inductive load like a ceiling fan. However the Panasonic soft-start quiet bathroom vents would be fine since they are controlled by their own digital circuitry so it won't behave as an inductive load on the switch.

I believe the way these work is pass a few mA to ground, just enough for the circuit. But this means that if you have too many on one circuit they will trip GFCI breakers.

Agreed, but there's a con to these things. Once you install one in a particular room you visit often, you'll sometimes think there is one installed in other rooms. That, or dementia is slowly setting in for me.

I do walk into other rooms (without a motion sensor installed) in my home and sometimes expect the light to go on.

I've used these in the locations in my home were they cheaped out and skipped the neutral. Most of my house has 'smart' switches controlled by a hub, but these have been handy for switches that don't have all the wiring needed to power the smart switch.

I love this switch! i have one in my garage and usually picks up the door opening. Nice to have a lighted garage when walking in. My lighting circuit has 12-15 4' LED shop lights. The box says 50W, so total watts would be 500w to 750w. I don't have any issues with that circuit.

Unless it's smart, I haven't seen any switch require neutral. It's the latest smart ones that require it for some reason, it just hast be powered that way. I can't wait for low power ones that don't require it.

As for this honestly price seems like normal price to me. Did these really go up thst much I would suggest compare to HD or Lowes otherwise OK since it's delivered to you.

Just be careful what you receive. I ordered this a few weeks ago and although was stated new and sold by amazon.com, it was not in its normal plastic casing and came with no instructions so was either a return/rebox or was fake. decided to just get from big box store to make sure I got a.genuine new
