They are actually also very small and easy to carry around, I have a few of them and love them.
I've pretty much abandoned all my usb sticks, no matter how high end they are, they cannot even touch the perormance and reliability of a real ssd like this one.

If you have USB 3.2 (Gen 2x2 Type-C) it has double the read/write speeds of the X9.

I will say - different product I know but.. for my cheap $12 sabrent usb 2.5 ssd drive enclosure with it's usb 3.0 port I notice the transfer rate of copying files is much faster than my usb 3.0 speed thumb drives. I'm guessing for the crucial X9 the speed would be at least as good if not better (I repurposed an ancient 240 GB ssd drive that was sitting around doing nothing and put it in my sabrent enclosure).
There's a negative review (it's the first one that comes up if you tell amazon to let you look at the negative reviews only - which can be surprisingly helpful in terms of telling you about a product's shortcomings and what to watch out for) by Miltz that gives a lot of useful info. Not sure if it's worth ordering a longer/better usb cable too based on Miltz's review or just trying the cable the drive ships with and see if it works out for you.

Samsung Pro Ultimate (pretty fast for an SD card) writes at 200 MB/s
The X9 Pro (here) writes at > 1000 MB/s (the X10 version someone mentioned it twice that fast).
