These are not shitty shingle SMR drives. SMR write speed is less than 80 MB/s. People are reporting 200 MB/s for these seagate drives.

I bought two last time this was on sale and shucked them into my nas. I ran a stress test and secure wiped them followed by a extended smart test, both ran it fine without issues. Temps were good for me, lower than my wd reds

That's literally EVERY thread on SD. Most of the content is just two factions trying to prove the other is wrong. If you don't believe me, head on over to the recent lululemon jogger thread, same thing, different product.

Anyway, that's why using a strong sense of filtration and due diligence helps with these comments. Once in a while you get a good nugget of info/wisdom which makes it worth the effort if you actually need said item.

I bought 5 from the last deal, no regrets. Sequential transfer rates are about 180-230MB/s which you can't really beat for non SSD. I chose not to open any of them to keep the warranty for now. I may after a year or so decide to crack them open and install internally.

I'm not sure why there is such a heavy debate about HAMR, SMR, CMR. I don't know what this is - no one seems to for sure but I do know that the user experience is equally as good as my other 15 Easystore drives. I am finding noise and heat levels to be on par.

Any idea why this is rated 3.0 stars but the 14TB is 4.4 stars?

I need more storage for my Plex server (mini PC with portable hard drives) but don't necessarily need 20TB yet.... But do need to get more storage in the next couple weeks

I bought one from the last deal and it died 3 weeks later. Now I have to deal with a defective drive with no easy way to wipe my data before sending back for a refund. Save yourselves a headache.

Why is it whenever a Seagate deal is posted there's basically two types of comments? That the drives are fine with good temps, speeds, and reliability and that Seagate is the literal devil and will sell you a brick (not a bricked drivean actual brick) and then burn your house down when you try to ask for a new one.
