so yes
expect them to burn your house down if you ask for a "new" replacement.
Seagate relies upon enterprise sales... not SDers and general consumers looking for external hard drives at Amazon/BB/Costco/etc.
i dont mind selling you my seagate hard drives brand new inbox for 80% of what wd is selling. are you taking? i cant wait to get rid of them. even at half price.

Somehow I doubt you have sealed 24, 26, 28 or even the 30/32 Exos drives otherwise you wouldn't be complaining on here.
I'm guessing you mean you have external hard drives that are likely second-tier drives that WD and Seagate pushes out to at least recoup some money.

The story keeps shifting with this user... but we're to believe Seagate is junk b/c he's unable to move inventory at even 50% off.
The reality is, he has a lot of clearanced stuff likely bout on SDs over the years. The funny thing is that spinning hard drives don't last forever. The motors do seize from lack of use b/c the lubrication and stuff just dries out and gets old similar to CPU thermal paste. Then, when the "NIB" Seagate rusty spinner fails to startup, it'll only further reinforce this dudes opinion of Seagate.

That's cute. Christmas stocking stuffers? Do they have a bow on them?
I seriously don't think anything under 10TB is even worth the electricity to power up, and 10TB is pretty iffy IMO. With the exception 5TB Black drives (portable), I'll be cleaning house soon on these "small" drives, which I think of as clutter, and even 12TB drives will soon be added to that list.
I thought 18TB was my bottom line but now it's quickly moving to 20-22TB.

fun facts. those so called enterprises went with some seagates because they got their cut with them and to secure their jobs.
if there is nothing wrong with their storage fleets. their job and position will get cut. so why not taking the cut with seagate and keep their tasks "busy" and relevant during their lifetime there.

I think it was Backblaze, the online backup provider, that said in a blog post that while other disk providers like Hitachi, etc had lower rates of failure (reference their quarter drive failure report posts), they were not able to get the numbers of drives they wanted consistently to keep expanding their clusters.
So this is a case where Seagate wins most of their business despite worse reliability.
