I thought I was missing something, confusing on can price but checked local bjs. and its 6 pack 12.5 for $10 or $1.67 per can. This seems to be markedly more expensive, but if you don't have a costco or bjs, then I guess this is a warm deal.

I wonder how they cam up w/ 12.5oz cans tho.
To be fair, neither BJ's nor Costco sells Swanson brand. Their in-house brands are comparable, but Costco's online pricing is higher. BJ's pricing (online = in store) is comparable to this deal, but this month there is a coupon that reduces the price further.
Canned chicken has a high water content, up to 40 or 50% (usually broth).

Comparable size and content Kirkland chicken cans (made by the same company) at Costco are 6 for $12 it equals to 3 x 2packs, $4 per 2 pack, this is regular price that sometimes goes on sale ($2-$3 off 6 pack).

I buy it all the time for the dog, because its cheaper than dog food (ironically) so I am aware.
Yes if you need the corporate jet swanson logo on the can, you can pay 50% more. I get it.
seem horribly expensive? What am I missing? Buy chicken breast at $1.99, cut into chucks, toss into slow cooker with water and some salt and in few hours you have bland chicken for all one's needs?

I would avoid these, bought last deal, total rip off.
Each can contains less than 6oz of chicken, less than 2 servings, where each can indicates there should be 12.5oz approx 3.5 x 3oz servings. Scale zeroed with the bowl, and 5.8oz of chicken was in the can. Weighed couple other all with a few 10ths of a ounce of each other
At price I bought you're paying over $9/lb for shitty canned chicken. This price isn't much better.
