Close. At 49", it's the same size as those 49" 5120x1440 higher res super ultrawide, which is equivalent to having two 27" 1440p next to each other. So this monitor is two 27" 1080p.

the screen is only 14" tall... this monitor is essentially the same as having two 24" monitors next to each other. having 4k res on a 24" screen is silly imho.

I have a similar 49" monitor that is 1440p. While 4k is ridiculous, i almost feel like 1080p is equally ridiculous. I'd say if someone can't afford a 1440p 49" a smaller 1440p would provide a better experience than this.

Why wouldn't you buy a Google TV? It is the thing all of these are based off of in general. Is there something special they do or about them? Honest question. I just generally, after about 35 years of buying electronics and being familiar with all tech, haven't found any house brands to actually out perform or value (because of what the kneecap or suck at) the bigger and standard setting brands. And the bigger brands aren't necessarily more expensive these days especially with Slickdeals.

Also, I know they are infamous which is why I made the joke. I can assume the reply from the other dude was because all he owns is Onn and people don't like to hear things that aren't what they think in their brain head anymore.

I don't think my comments so much about buying the big brands intentionally, I think my intention was more to comment that house brands tend to not be quality. Anybody can justify settling when you're paying less for something. It makes us all feel better to be happy with what we bought. But you can get a name brand non-oled television that would outperform that OLED for the same price probably. So I'm trying to be somewhat agnostic to pricing but say that house brands genuinely and generally have to make compromises on their electronics in order to deliver you those prices. Therefore, they compromise their quality and by doing so are providing you with a subpar product in exchange for less money. Especially with slick deals around, it's a lot easier to get more bang for your buck these days. I'm not trying to shit on your purchase or anything like that. I've got an LG OLED but wow it was probably twice as much if not three times, it's got. All of my icons burned into the bottom of the screen cuz I use it as a computer monitor. Luckily, they ended up fixing that on the new ones but I would say, for my purposes, this wasn't a good purchase for my needs and perhaps, willing to compromise on quality, in order to have something like QLED or something else that wouldn't burn in and look just as good. That answer is Chinese house brands. That's all I'm saying I think. (Doesn't mean there may be a winner out there somewhere. But when there is, they change the branding and up the price.)

1080p at 27 inches has its place since up until last year or so it was the cheapest way to get high refresh monitors for cheap (<$125). This does not make much sense, at $450 you would be better off just getting a dual monitor setup with two of those stacked side by side or saving up the little bit extra for 1440p. You can get 4K TVs with high refresh around this size for cheaper... (of course they aren't monitors)

It's not like this is a cheap monitor where the lower resolution can be forgiven due to its price. Onn makes some solid stuff, but this isn't it.

This seems better for work productivity than gaming. I wouldn't mind two 1080p monitors using PBP. One thing that's interesting is that even when you power it off, it will still be onn. ;-)

It's not 4k res on 24" screen. It is 2k on 24" equivalent. And that is very desirable.

We had multiple widescreen monitors within 12 feet of where I sat. Personally, I just sit closer to the screen and it fills enough of my view. Yes, the aspect ratio is different, but this is only a 1080P monitor so it's not going to look very good in any case. The best monitor at work was a Dell 8K and it was 32". I also think curved screens are a gimmic because movies would have to be made for a specific curvature in order to not distort the picture. That also means each monitor would have to mirror that curvature or there'd have to be some very complicated pre-display processing to account for each specific screen's curvature.

Now maybe that curve-matching technology already exists and I'm just not aware of it, but I've never heard of it.

I bought the Samsung G9 years ago and initially played via RX-590 at 1440P and 1080P. IMO, 1080P was absolutely fine. I'm certain many could forgive a lot shortcomings for the immersion that superultrawide provides, I just hope no one buys this for their console.
