I have it on the PS5, but am having a heard time getting into it, mostly because it's a real grind fest. Only characters in your battle party gain experience, so you constantly have to keep rotating them out and then replaying some of the same battles to level them up. All because sometimes you need a character with a specific elemental affinity to be able to complete some timed challenge or to make things easier. Then every battle earns you some kind of resource points that you can spend on different character abilities, so you constantly have to be messing with that. And then there's like a two or so dozen characters you can recruit beyond the main party. Then, as if that weren't enough, trying to keep everyone's weapons upgraded is also a pain because some of the materials you need are kind of rare. I really wish there was some kind of optional automatic mode where it'd just apply the points in some predefined way for people like me who just can't be bothered to give a shit and want to spend more time playing the game, not managing character builds.

If you can get past all of that, the gameplay is actually pretty fun, though I suck at the whole dodge mechanic and things like grabbing exploding barrels and throwing them at groups of enemies. If you've played some sort of action RPG type game you'll probably figure it out pretty quick. One of the nice things is you can play as any of the characters, so if you prefer to be more of a ranged fighter, there's a couple characters for that. Want to be a spell caster, there's characters for that. You can also be the traditional melee fighter who's right in the thick of everything. It reminds me a lot of the Tales games where you can play as different party members if you want, but a bit more refined..

Ive been playing it and it's pretty fun. The only frustrating side is that the multiplayer is fairly limited while you progress through the story.

I borrowed the game from the library and had fun with it for about a month. I agree with the poster above me. Except the game is pretty easy on normal and you don't need to grind to beat the game. You do however need to grind to get the stats and weapons to complete all the bonus objectives. I think it's worth it at this price but I have such a ridiculous backlog that I'm waiting for below $20.

Probably the most underrated game from last year. You don't really need to grind for the main story which is about 10 hours long. There's basically infinite post-game but if you just wanna enjoy the story and combat, it's pretty good.

Yeah I played on PC and just set 2x exp through WeMod to streamline the grind…

All these JRPGs okay exactly the same now, like FFXVI. It's kind of getting tiresome

the multiplayer is dead on this as there is no crossplay at all. Its okay. I beat it, but felt bored after ward. Its a grindfest at the end game no doubt if you want the best weapons and upgrades

Been playing this on my steam deck with no issues and it is pretty good. The sound/music and voice acting is good and I would say well worth this price.

Haven't played the game, but wanted to comment that there is a Japanese anime that was released to promote the game.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gra..._Animation

Granblue Fantasy: The Animation is a Japanese anime television series adaptation of the Granblue Fantasy video game series. The first season, animated by A-1 Pictures, aired from April to June 2017. A second season, animated by MAPPA, aired from October to December 2019..
