It takes some configuring, but I've had good experiences with using Google Family to manage my kids devices.
1. Go to the web to find the current minutes, messages, data, and days remaining on your permanent phone.
2. Activate your "donor" phone on the same account.
3. Go to the web to find the current minutes, messages, data, and days remaining on your new, donor phone.
4. Go to support.tracfone.com and scroll down to and click "Chat with Support".
5. Populate the message template below with details of your donor phone and permanent phone and share with the CSR.

I use these for cameras at my corporate rentals. Guests can access cameras and see what is going on.WiFi only. I keep the SIM for my kids - or a burner phone.
I do want to unlock some of these I purchased in the past. Anyone know how?

If you want to make use of phones for at least over a year, recommend 2024 version, preferably 5G to be future proof.
Currently have a Samsung A14 5G (spare to park a temp number) when it was ~$35 for one phone with this TracFone limited annual plan & new customer code.
