This is for existing users on flexible or unlimited plus plan. Phone comes unlocked and ready to be used with any carrier, just make sure not put the FI SIM in any other phone until the 120 day counter in FI account reaches 0.

How do I get this if I'm not a google FI user?
Previously some saw this "existing user" upfront discount offers 21 days after opening the account. In a recent thread https://slickdeals.net/f/18046998-s24-ultra-unlocked-l-google-fi-existing-customers-120-days-of-service-required-info-on-s25-ultra-preorder-599 some saw the discount 48 hours after opening but I believe they did not click on it to see if they are actually eligible. So if you are planning to get S25U you can do a gamble for $25 or so by opening an account now (use referral code for $60 credit) and see if you are able to order by the end of the preorder period. Note that even after the preorder period ends FI will still have a discount albeit $50 less o it might still end up being a good discount.

I am on the flexible and had the offer. I am trading in an old iPhone 15 pro max and even though they are only giving me $425 for it, my final price including tax will be $275.00 which was much better than what Samsung was giving me including me having a EDU account and chose a Fold 5 which Samsung was offering $900 for. Don't care about the extras ($130 credit) Samsung was giving me. Samsung also kills you on the tax as they charge for the full price of the phone. Google Fi had the best deal by far for me that is
15 pro max?? do you want to sell it to me, i'll pay more than $425

All I care about is the bottom line price.

Look at Samsung with a Fold 5 trad-in ($900) and an EDU account.

You also have to count 4 months of service of you are not using FI. On the other hand, Samsung tax is on the full amount
I misspoke - the Samsung deal is actually not as bad (although still more inferior): for me it is $379 + $33 = $413 for s25u 512. Note that the tax is only on the amount paid, not the total amount (I'm in NYC if it matters).

Wow, what state are you in that tax is only $33?!

In Nevada the are charging tax on the whole price so:
$379
Estimated tax
$107.00
Total
$484.52

Duh, never mind, I see you are in NYC. Weird they don't do this in NYC.

Not a huge change.

Much better proc - Snapdragon 8 Elite chip

Camera - a new 50MP sensor and brighter f/1.9 lens for its ultrawide camera - a big improvement over the 12MP f/2.2 unit of the S24 Ultra.

Slightly bigger screen - The S25 Ultra has a 6.9-inch screen, while the S24 Ultra has a 6.8-inch screen. The S25 Ultra's larger screen is due to its thinner bezels.

Other than that, not much.

I'm on simply unlimited and it only gives me 350 off, plus my s23u (256gb) only tradein for 260, thus it's $690 for s25u (256gb) for me, much worse than the Samsung preorder deal

So strange it is a YMMV deal as simply unlimited is a better plan than the plan I am on. Guess you gotta go with the bottom line. I am a phone ho and will go with anyone who gives me the better price. In this case, it is Google fi for me.

Seems like not much changed, especially if you are looking at the non-Ultra models.

I have an S22 base model. S25 base has exactly the same camera hardware! It might have a few more AI photo editing gimmicks that will likely trickle down with a software update anyway.

I can't find a reason to upgrade.

Not sure where you read that but it is a lot different than a S22.

Not saying to upgrade, just saying, you might want to check your sources on difference.

Pretty sure your link also shows the (rear) camera sensors, aperture, sensor size, etc. are the same. Only slight differences I could find are just 1-2mm specified focal length difference on 2 of 3 rear cameras, likely due to slight differences in the caseback thickness, etc. Likely no significant difference in photo performance
