JUST A THOUGHT NOT TO MAKE YOU FEAR GUYS...So, it sounds like they're breaking it down like this – since they're showing the $700 promo value separately, and then say the phone's worth, like, $50 or whatever and promotional value gets spread out over 36 months on your bill. So, here's how I think it works… Using my example, they'd knock off that $50 from the phone's total price right away. But to actually get the full benefit of the promo of $700, you gotta stick with them for 36 months. Ifyou bail early, you miss out on the promo or exit with the $50 (or whatever the value is for your phone).Otherwise, they'd basically be doing some charity work, right?
You don't have to take the credit over 36 months. You pay the full amount up front, or the difference in store. You get the credit when they receive and verify the trade-in. Don't choose the payment option and you're good.

I'm getting a ton of "Sorry, your Samsung GALAXY S23 5G is not eligible for trade-in". I tried a ton of other phones like S22, S24 but nothing is eligible. Has anyone gotten a list of actually eligible devices for trading in?

I had issues with Spectrum Samsung phones, after a struggle to unlock it. When using them on Verizon, my esim won't work. I don't think Spectrum-brand Samsung phones are compatible with Verizon. I have a Fold5 and S23 Ultra that I can't activate the esim on Verizon.

Verizon blamed Spectrum, Spectrum said they unlocked everything on their end, and Samsung said there's no issue with their phones.

Multiple cases over a year have gotten no resolution.
Have you tried flashing a different firmware from xda?

I've been able to activate and switch to another device for the 60 day wait. Just before requesting unlock, make sure to put the SIM back into the phone you want to unlock and it registers on your account before requesting. This has worked for multiple phones.

What if it's esim?

Am I able to do the trade-in and opt for the pay all at once option? I'm wondering if there's a way to only get the phone without committing to a 36 month contract with Spectrum.

Yes. That's been the main subject of better part of this 13 page discussion lol

No, I wouldn't do it online. Just insist with person at store and it'll be fine

See my post above for why. It's riskier and greater headache to do mail in
Do you remember last year if you go In-store, they only carry the lowest memory option for all phones? If that's the case... I have to purchase it online

Yes, they will. You're buying a fully paid off phone from them technically. Just don't continue service

Oh no, I just found out that Metro won't give any discount promotion for portin Google Voice number.

You can just buy a basic prepaid phone from Target, Walmart etc. Various ones do qualify as trade in options

When I said SIM, I meant esim. Use the online account portal to swap esim back to the phone you want to unlock. I've done that with the S24 promo as well as the flip 6 promo over the summer.

Same here. Free line w/ Spectrum, T-Mo is my main. Gonna trade in a dusty iPhone 11 laying around for $781 toward the S25 Ultra. Everything you said seems accurate, but why would the $920 go back onto your account? "If the trade-in exceeds the cost of the new device"... but it doesn't, since you're paying in full. Sounds like it should go back to CC automatically as a refund.
That's just how they work. Trade in credit goes to your account, and you need to call CS to ask them to refund to your CC on file. I've done this twice in the last 2 years, that's how they always have been. CS is pleasant though, always US based agents.

What is the cheapest plan in spectrum?
$30/mo. If you are a new Mobile customer they should have a free service for 1 line for a year promo, which will work with this device deal as well.

You can believe what you want; plenty of people, myself included, have done exactly this in the last couple of years with each Samsung new release and the trade in credit has always been lump sum.

It should be eligible, is your phone blacklisted or still not paid off to another carrier? I've put in randomly generated IMEIs for different devices to check trade in value and they've never shown me that message.
