My chat with Spectrum today. Deal is same as last year (I got the S24 Ultra last year). Call in to get the credit refunded to your credit card and cancel whenever you want

Also remember to power on and activate the phone right away to start the clock on the unlock feature which is 60-days!
Thanks. Does the phone have to be on an active line or can I just eSIM swap after activation and just wait the sixty days for the unlock?

NVM. I found the answer while going through about twenty pages worth of posts. lol.

Answer: the phone has to be on an active line to qualify to be unlocked.

I currently have Spectrum Internet and have the offer to get the free Spectrum Mobile line for 1 year. Trying to decide which scenario I should go with. Any suggestions?

Scenario A:
1. Go into Spectrum store and sign up now for the free mobile line with an old phone.
2. When the S25 is released, go into store and ask to "upgrade" my old phone to the S25 by paying it in full and getting the trade-in credit, while maintaining the free mobile line. This way, I still will not have to pay anything for the mobile line.
3. Wait two months and have phone unlocked.

Scenario B:
1. When the S25 is released, go into store and sign up for the free mobile line and do a trade-in for the S25.
2. Wait two months and have phone unlocked.

In essence, should I sign up for the free mobile line now with an old phone and do the device-only upgrade next week, so should I wait for when the S25 is released and do the trade-in and open the free mobile line at the same time? Which scenario is recommended?

Would this work guys as I am moving and need to get Spectrum Internet anyways.

Sign up for $50 500 speed internet, and let them give me the free line with Spectrum. (a new line, new number). I tell them to give me the S25 Plus, no payments, with trade in of a Moto Stylus 5g 2023 I show has $710 credit. Once that credit happens, wait 60 days, and disconnect the line but keep the internet?

You will only get credits for as long as you have service over 36 months
The full credit gets applied to you account if paid in full, you just have to submit a refund request. Did it for the S24 and S24plus last year.

Can this be had in conjunction with their 1 year free service plan if you're already their internet customer?

Why disconnect a free line? Why not leave it active and do more deals in the future?

Can anyone comment on how long the trade in process takes? I would be less hesitant to give this a shot if I knew I could just return the s25 in the case that the "promotional" value can't be refunded to credit card (via chat / CS).
I'm on spectrum now but we are getting fiber in our neighborhood this fall, and being tied to spectrum for 36 months would suck as that would cause me to miss out on the 'new signup' discount I'd be getting for fiber....

EDIT: $50 Restocking fee makes this somewhat of a gamble... for anyone that's going for this, keep us updated and may the odds be ever in your favor...

About 3 weeks. Just do it in store after 2/8/25 if you worry about this process.

I can do that I guess till the line starts to charge. Right?

Would it be better to do this in the store?

Free line is good for 12 months. You do the math. Read the whole thread if you don't know anything about this deal.

Wouldn't the deal change once the pre-order ends? For example, the $700 could change back to $100 standard trade-in bonus, promotional discount, and actual trade-in value...yet the total may not be the same as what we during the pre-order period. Correct? I just returned from the Spectrum store and the sales rep said the samething "pre-order deals are usually better than regular deals".

Promotional credit usually last 1 to 2 months after released date. That's based on last 3 year deals from spectrum.
