Anyone have issues with in-store trade-in refusing a phone? Tried trading a pixel 3XL, which shows online as worth $705. In-store it was not accepting the phone at all

Are they asking for the SSN only to open a new line or to do the trade in with the existing line? Did not have to provide this when I opened the line over the phone on two separate occasions.

They will ask SSN and ID for everything you do with them, mobile or internet, when I did in store, doesn't matter open the new line or upgrade the line.

Thanks, makes no sense. I never gave my ssn to them when I opened my account for internet or mobile so how could they use it to confirm? So even if only trading in Moto G for S25 I have to give them my ssn in store? Will ask if there is another way when I get there. Had a big todo with Citi Thank you points who wanted my ssn to answer a simple question and I refused. Sent to another department to be "verified" they asked me a few questions and the agent answered the questions for me before I got a chance to and magically I didn't have to give them my ssn.

Went to a store and they have in stock of all the 3 models but was told that I can get it online only. The rep even showed me the screen showing the message, he cannot explain and does not even know why. Has this happened to anyone else?
