How are these for engraving something that's not flat? Or what would the setup look like?

If it's round, like a tumbler, you can buy a rotary attachment to engrave.
These cheap diode lasers are typically fixed-focus, which means the laser must be a precise distance to work properly. If not, the laser will be out of focus and your engraving/cutting with not have sharp edges. Being out of focus is actually a technique used by some to engrave bamboo
Also note that with a diode lasers, you can really only mark anodized/painted metals unless you use Cermark or the like

Perfect timing! I bought a 3.5 watt engraver for $135. I cancelled and got this for $95. Almost 3x the power.

I want to engrave my kids name onto their aluminum water bottle.

Thank you! I was actually looking at some other options as well for attachments to a 3d printer so that may be the better route.

Is there a preferred open source program to create the files? I'd love to try that before getting the hardware.

So I just received my mecpow x3 pro and it's very used and I can't even put it together cuz they didn't give me the bolts, tool kit (hex tools etc), goggles, 2 keys, 2 wood boards, instructions manual, and an aluminum plate
The laser module is very well used as it's dirty inside. Wish I had never bought this. Let's see how their customer service responds to this...

Same, missing the glasses, the hardware to attach the air line to the laser module, had a lock washer and little screw loose inside the system case ugh. It did power on so that's a thing. They literally stripped cut out the previous mailing sticker off the box and slapped mine on the side, funny they didn't even do a good job at that as I can read the first and last name off the previous owner on what's left of the label.
For the money paid I'm not buying shit from geek buying again. So far I consider myself lucky that most of the hardware to put it together was there. I'd be beyond upset if the damn belts were not in the box, wth . Refurbished means checked and in working like new order. Not we got a box back and sent it back to some other smuck.

Oh I better check this.

Customer service seemed fine but now they say they can't get parts till much later near my return window. Do I return it? They asked me to buy the bolts and fasteners and/or the rest of the missing items. Should have bought new as the time I spend to find these parts I would be better off buying new.

I read a bunch of negative reviews about geekbuying but thought it was just a one off kinda incident.

To future SDers who see this... geekbuying's terminology for refurbished does not mean what we think. They just resend customer returns without replacing any missing parts. I can see the original owner's address on the box! This is a joke.
