Does the 4th generation Tablo support ATSC 3.0 (aka NextGenTV)?
No. The tuners in the 4th generation Tablo support the ATSC 1.0 broadcast standard used by all major commercial broadcasts today and the Tablo device takes full advantage of it like never before. While ATSC 3.0 broadcasts are available in some markets, ATSC 1.0 broadcasts will continue through at least June 2027.

I have a 5TB usb3 drive connected to mine.
This is a good price for the tablo 4th gen. Note that buyer pays return shipping if you decide to return it. Reviews on amazon are poor, but most people who I've talked to that have it seem to like it. I figure a lot of the frustration from reviewers on amazon are probably do to user-error or not understanding how to set it up/use it properly.
I have an HDhomerun at the moment, but I don't like that it's $120-$200 and then they want you to pay a subscription to use DVR functionality on top of that. I do like that it's much more compatible with other hardware/software, though. Also HDhomerun can be viewed on devices outside of the household. But I still think I'm going to get the Tablo and return my HDhomerun. Could regret it, but the price of the HDhomerun never changes, so if I decide I want to go back to HDhomerun, I can just get another one for the same price for $120. I just think it's really convenient to have an all-in-one solution OTA DVR for a one time payment of $50, as long as the interface is not too bad, slow or buggy.
It seems like the unit has dropped in price significantly this generation, and they've eliminated the subscription entirely. So my question is...where's the monetization? Selling user data? Ads in guide? There must be a catch.

No commercial skipping options with Tablo, either.

Using 4th gen Tablo and 1st gen Fire TV Cube, the integration with Fire TV is not as slick as the Recast but functionally it works well. With Amazon continually lowering/degrading Recast integration this may change. I had to return the latest generation Fire TV Cube due to incompatibility with the Recast. In all fairness, Amazon discontinued the Recast a few years back so time and technology marches on.
The reception and resolution much is better using the Tablo and it uses 5 GHz WiFi whereas Recast uses 2.4.
Bottom line, I'm still mainly using the Recast today due to it's integration with Fire TV, not performance.
