I finally picked one up. So a steamdeck 2 should be announced any minute now. Smilie

I was also looking at the asus at Best Buy. Really good price on that as well. Each of these devices has its pros and cons for sure.

Odin portal 2 looking real nice as well.

If I didn't already have the steam deck I would personally hold off for the Legion Go 2. Great hardware and will run steam OS instead of windows. Windows is garbage right now for handheld gaming.
im waiting on the legion go 2 also

Got a message on top of screen saying it's out of stock now. The 1T will go through.

U can save more money if you buy Steam cards from third party websites. I've done it before; e.g. $100 card for $80 or something.

This is a woefully underpowered toaster. I have a high end PC and PS5.

I virtually never use my PC or PS5 anymore. Most but not all new AAA slop releases can't run on this at any decent frame rate or fidelity but so much of it is so terrible it doesn't matter, and the suspend sleep combined with ease of pick up and play makes the barrier between me and starting up gaming sessions as frictionless as picking up my phone, making me reach for it more often than my phone. It totally destroys any other way to play most games worth playing, particularly with AA and Indie games putting out the vast majority of great games nowadays alongside ability to run pretty much any From Software titles and some newer AAA.

Steam Deck is easily the best $550 I've spent on an entertainment product.

Do it. Totally worth it. I've been enjoying the hell out of mine, mostly playing old gamecube games on it. 😅
SSD upgrade is super easy to do, I've got a 2TB in mine now plus another 1TB MicroSD.
About to swap the outer shell for a translucent purple to give it that dope retro gameboy color vibe.
Snap into a steam deck 💪

Throw chaki4deck onto it and you can remote play that PS5 with incredible battery life (8-10+ hours on battery)

Oh I have, but like I said most new AAA has been trash anyways so I just delved into Indie as it's golden age really went into full swing last year right after I picked up the deck and luckily many of the AAA I actually do like, particularly From Software titles, run acceptably at 45fps/90hz regardless so it became a non issue.

Where are you purchasing the translucent shell from? Got one on this deal and would appreciate the memories to get an old-school vibe

If you look for alternatives make sure they are for the OLED as the shells are different for the LCD models.
Also, watch their youtube video on how to do the swap before you buy, it's not for the faint of heart and will likely take 2-3 hours.
