There is passthrough charging. It's one of the selling points of the NitroDeck. There are two USB-C ports in the back at the top on a lip and they face down. This means you can plug your cable back there and still put your Switch down on a table if you need to. The port facing down means the cable is not sticking out the top like the Steam Deck and getting pulled down, potentially breaking the cable and/or the port. The second USB-C port is used for updating the firmware and also using the controller as a wired controller on Switch and PC so even after the Switch is no longer relevant, this thing will still be a usable (although awkward) controller with Hall effect sticks.

I own both the Nitro Deck and Nitro Deck +. The + version allows you to connect a USB-C to HDMI adapter to that 2nd port to display out like a dock.

I actually hope they make one for the Switch 2 because It made my Switch as comfortable to hold as my Steam Deck and I was more liklely to play in handheld mode vs using the joycons or carrying an extra controller.

these are really good, though it is a little annoying to remove it for docking

They ever fix the zombie battery drain issue with these? I really like the form factor, but initial reviews reported it would drain the switch while in standby and kill the battery in like a week.

There are not that great. Can't connect to USB-C and dock with this version. Need the Nitro Deck+ version to do that. And both this version and the Nitro Deck+ are very uncomfortable. I would avoid.

That happened to mines too but a software update fixed that as well as the light on the device for the power is annoyingly bright and they dimmed the light as well.

One thing I will say about these is that crkd has excellent customer service. Had an issue with my Nitro Deck where the USB connector bent and would no longer allow the Switch to dock. Customer service was very responsive and they took care of the issue efficiently and professionally at no charge to me. In a day where companies are increasingly difficult to contact and work with, I would buy from them again thanks to this experience.

I have the retro purple ND and also the clear ND+. I take the ND+ when traveling to use as a dock for my kiddos. I pretty much use the console as a handheld at home since I got the purple ND. Both are comfortable, although the stick placement on the + makes the buttons a little hard to use, but the buttons on the back are great. Highly recommend.

Any known reports of these damaging switch units like those early-gen 3rd party docks ?
