I have one of these, it's a nice driver and works well. Every time I read comments about this model, called "The Freak" because of the dual use adapter, people say how they don't understand the point. I like it, because it allows me to use 1/4 and 1/2 sockets, even if it's not a impact wrench.
My only concern with it was that there are no modes on it. It is one mode, and that is it. I came across the top of the line model which was a display on closeout for $30 with a battery. Not only was it more powerful but it had three modes on it. I don't see a whole lot of difference in the power aspect, but it is nice to have the different modes depending on what I'm doing. IMHO

The most interesting feature is the two-in-one 1/4 in bit socket in the center and a 1/2 driver socket on the outer.

• 150 ft-lb (1,800 in-lb) max torque
• 4,200 ipm impact rate
• Variable-Speed Trigger

You don't usually get a mode switch on an impact driver. That is more of a drill thing.

I have this but don't use it much. I prefer my Dewalt impact driver over this.

I'm a Bosch guy but this is one tool that most do better. It's a freak because it's both larger and weaker than the competition. The 1/2" adapter isn't useful because it's not powerful enough for sockets that would be 1/2" drive. It's loud and underpowered compared to Milwaukee and DeWalt and the trigger is twitchy so controlling speed is hard. Price I pay to be in bed with the Bosch battery system.

I have one of these and love it. I take it with me to pick&pull junk yards and it has been quite handy in conjuction w 1/2" impact sockets to get stubborn fasteners to yield. May not be the most powerful as mentioned, but it has served me well.

This is an older model and fine for general use. Their newer models have mode switches to control pulsing speed, reverse mode, and higher power to weight motors. For wood applications this tool is a great tool as the other modes are not relevant….more than enough power and excellent ergonomics.
if you want to use it for automotive repair I'd wait for the better models to go on sale which have more torque / impact settings. I have both, this one stays cleaner in my box as I use it exclusively for wood so it doesnt get full of oil/grease!

thanks op, got one. Had non brushless before before switching to hpt, then i switched back, it's a decent every day driver, good to quick remove fence deck bolts light duty stuff. I mostly use my 12v now but will toss this in my bag for the occasional times i need 18v runtime (deck screws, etc) All the other modes on the new drivers i never pushed them and doubt 95% of people do either. 12v is way to go for every day.

Basically every company's newest impact has a mode selector

Yeah but it's gotta be the "nice" version of their impact driver to have modes and stuff. Most "out of a pack" impact drivers are just mash n go.

I have always wanted one of these, and already have a bosch 18v bulldog that I love, but I really really don't need it. I have a bunch of impact drivers and a few impact wrenches, and the torque test channel video shows that if you add a half inch socket adapter to the 1/4 in hex collet in the center, you some how get more torque than putting the socket straight on the 1/2in sq drive.
I'd post the video here but idk about how links work here or what not so I need to go read the rules.

not much of a hands on guy and never had a drill. I just bought a bosch set and it didn't come with bits. this set also seems to not come with bits. i'm just wondering why it's evidently the default to not include bits with these drills?
