Basic, Deluxe and Premium do all the same forms only the amount of guidance changes.
Deluxe will handle almost any tax situation and guide you along for self employment, 1099, 1099K and even LLC business income along with rental income. It also handles stocks, crypto and rental income along with capital gains It handles all associated deductions, write-offs, credits and depreciation of the above.
These versions will not do true corporate taxes in which the company is a separate tax entity that pays it own taxes.

There was another post about it but it didn't get promoted much. I just did this and paid $0 for deluxe, great deal!
** The only requirements are you need to start on the app, and then file on the app. You can enter all your information and forms via desktop browser in between starting and filing.
and no, you don't need to just pAy by ApRiL 15:
for people who will likely owe, it's best to file asap since the IRS charges 7% interest on owed taxes

Here is my list of benefits of the Block standalone software.
That last one is the most important to me as web apps and services can change terms or even disappear.

Let's not forget Block's $25 state e-file fee, $40 for additional state downloads (and you still pay the e-file fee). Make sure they don't get you with an unnecessary upgrade to premium.
FreeTaxUSA is unlimited free federal e-files (one per account though, as you noted) plus $15 per state including e-file.
There are millions of individuals and business that have multiple income streams that do not come on a W2 and that can not be taxed at a flat rate. That is what the complex tax forms calculate and true income must be determined as expenses must be accounted for. It is not like there is one number that gets reported for people to be taxed on. The government doesn't know my numbers until I calculate and give them to them. That will never go away and you only consider taxes from your very narrow view of W2 income.

Please don't confuse or misinform people that those upsells and extra services are necessary or needed. After the last few years most have little money to waste. FreeTaxUSA also plays those games and if I play your game and add the upsells in FreeTaxUsa will cost $62.
My bottom line if I use Block to only do my return is that I'm out of pocket $23 plus the price of a stamp to file federal and state yet I can still continue to fill and file unlimited federal and state returns and use four more free federal e-files.
With FreetaxUSA. I'm out $15 for one state and one federal filled and am done.
The $8 savings just doesn't add up or do it for me with all I lose with the online tax filing.
You completely miss seeing the real value. My son and other family members get to file free returns and four of them can e-file federal. If I just take it to five Block has now dropped to a cost of $4.60 per federal and state return filed. In FreeTaxUSA that price has jumped to $60. That I get to do that in one software package without the need of creating five online accounts is also a big bonus. If I take that to 20 state and federal filed my cost is $1.15 per state and federal filed. With FreeTaxUSA that cost is now $300
A smart person could figure out that they could split cost or or just get great value in helping file returns for friends or acquaintances. Others could charge some courtesy fee to make some pocket money. The last there shows who wants your money and who kind of gives away valuable stuff for almost free. Bottom line is that one generates one return and one generates unlimited ones and that is before I even get to all the benefits of installed versus web. One product can literally generate income the other just takes you money. It is like buying a car or renting one but in this case the rental cost as much as the car.
Other online services also offer what freetaxusa does at about the same cost but I shun them as well as I do not want something as critical as my tax information out on somebody else's webservers that may go down or be gone at some future date. If you read reviews of online tax filing sites you can see cases where people could not get to and see their taxes near the tax due date.
the last quarterly due date as Jan 15: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-...due-jan-15
Not only that, but they also soak you on eFiling the state return (for all but NY which requires them to eFile for free -- pity all states don't do that. Even worse, even if you pay for eFiling, it does not include doing that for an extension. Fortunately the states I use (maybe all) allow you to do that at their website for free.
