It cannot be used in Series S/X optimized games, or whatever they are called. Only older games.

You need a special form factor xbox expansion ssd

XBox One / One S / One X - You can store and play from this drive.

XBox Series S / X - You can store your games. To play, if it's an 'Optimized for XBox series' game (as most are), you need to transfer to your internal hard-drive first though and only then could could launch. If it's not an optimized game (Usually very old titles) then you could launch directly from it.

This is the slowest version, and not that great of a deal. Get the X9 or even a Kingston XS1000 for better performance for a few dollars more.

He asked about game storage. This will store any game- including 'optimized for x:s' games just fine. Launching and playing games that are optimized for current gen is where internal or storage expansion card are required.

Do not buy! After a little bit of use, it slowed down to unusable levels. I'm talking taking several HOURS to transfer a couple of gigs. Read the reviews to see why.
