Xbox Store has Braid: Anniversary Edition (Xbox One/Series X|S Digital Download) for $4.99.

Thanks to Deal Editor Discombobulated for finding this deal.

About this game:
  • Control the flow of time to solve subtle platform puzzles in this update of the indie classic "Braid," featuring refreshed artwork and seriously in-depth creator commentary. Travel from a city house through a series of interconnected worlds where time behaves strangely, searching for an elusive Princess. Along the way you'll explore memories and regrets that still haunt you. This Anniversary Edition remaster of the award-winning platformer contains fully repainted high-resolution graphics, new sound effects and extensive audio commentary.
  • Rewind, pause and use the strange properties of time in each world to run and jump through beautifully painted environments. Avoid hazards, unlock doors and collect jigsaw puzzle pieces to assemble. If you get hung up on a particular puzzle, feel free to move on and return later.
  • This is the game you remember, with all the original challenges and the same haunting, evocative score — but repainted pixel by pixel so that each carefully rendered world comes to life in high resolution. New visual details, animated brushstroke effects and revamped sounds add to the immersive experience.
  • Explore the most extensive developer commentary ever put into a game, with over 12 hours of recorded insight and conversation from developer Jonathan Blow, artist David Hellman and more members of the "Braid" creative team. Navigate it by visiting a new in-game world, which also contains new puzzles and redesigns of classic puzzles. - Created by Thekla, Inc.

A great game and the commentary is interesting, but mostly over my head. You can switch between old and new art, it really is great.

Great game. Even the music is relaxing. This and Limbo were my favorite picks 10 or so years ago. Recommend!

I played this, the story is cringe. It felt like the game was made as a kind of therapy for getting over his ex-girlfriend. Also all of the promo material and Wikipedia are clearly written by the dev team, saying things like it's considered the best game of all time and likening it to masterpieces of all genres and art forms. It wasn't for me.

You're right, on the surface, the story does appear to be a little bit that way. However, the full meaning behind the story is locked behind the real ending, which all stages the protag has gone through leads to.
Also, what you described about promo and wiki are basically Marketing 101, so it's really no surprise here.

Soulja Boy did an in-depth review on this game awhile back, I suggest everyone watch it before purchasing.

Please watch Soulja Boy's review of the original game if you are on the fence.

I disagree Jonathan Blow is the GOAT*. When he rants on crap code, he has the creds to back up his opinion. Some consider it an honor for him to even take the time to rip their code to shreds

* Besides Carmack

What make Braid great? It's an art game based on a series of epiphany moments...

Mild spoilers follows:
The most shocking of all being the finale where perception is 180 degrees out of sync with reality. If you want a story of profound sadness and regret, but full of beauty, if you like the idea of surprises, of little clicks of your mind, then this game is for you. There were many times I laughed out loud once the a-ha moment hit (sorry for using new AI buzz phrase). The ending left me saddened and I contemplated how I did not see the warning signs the game left for me along the way.
Then you realize what a true great game is.

PS.
I finished the game, and a friend asked me "Did you get all the stars?". Of course, that meant I played it again and discovered there is a layered level of the game I didn't even notice.
