It shows how old it is. One of my phones has a CPU 16nm, but it came out in Oct 2016. If I have it already, I don't mind using it continuously. But, to buy one in 2025, I'll need serious convincing
Just got mine tablet in. No WideVine Level 1 so Vudu/Fandango won't play in HD.
This is a great deal. I paid $199 for one of these about 2 months ago. This is about the only tablet that you're going to find that will make phone calls and send texts off of the SIM card inside it. Even the Samsungs don't do this on the high end tablets
There's a few quirks and limitations that irritate me., it won't recognize the Galaxy watch (only ear buds), assuming that's because it's a tablet. It doesn't have NFC. It's only 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, and It's a budget, low end mid-range tablet.
That being said, because of the good parts, which for me are 8 gb ram, a relatively bright screen, decent viewing angles, great speakers, and pen support, along with the abilities to use it as a second screen with my PC, is this tablet actually fulfilled everything on my wish list except some of the technology is slightly out of date. I use it for business presentations and writing contracts.
It's a lot of bang for your buck. As long as you accept it is a little bit out of date. It would have been a great tablet about 4 years ago. But It's still pretty good today.
This is a LOW level CPU from 2020... 03/30/2020 = 1759 days old.
The slowest I would go would be a G99 CPU... HUGE increase. The CPU is just too slow... not worth the purchase for this price point.
To give you an idea... the iplay60 mini turbo 8.4"/8GB/128GB SD 6 Gen 1. Sells for about 130ish. and it slightly more then 100% FASTER.
Don't be stupid... there have been WAY better deals out their for less money or around the same. Based on the specs... (CPU)... I would say this tablet is not worth a penny more then $59.99.
I will say it again, get yourself a G99 or a SnapDragon 695 as the weakest CPU you should buy.
Also, you can get the iplay mini60 turbo for a bout 130ish from AliExpress (I have this tablet and it is amazing). SPecs: 8GB / 128GB / SnapDragon 6 Gen 1. The CPU is about 35% faster then the G99.
This tablet will be fine for your needs. Your upgrades will be from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM; 64GB storage to 128GB storage; 10" screen to 11" screen, et cetera. CPU is still 12nm but it is fine for web browsing.
I read product reviews on Lenovo website. One-star review said the youtube video lagged, and turning from vertical to horizontal lagged. I looked up benchmark. MediaTek G88 AnTuTu score 269,845. That's more than sufficient for YouTube.
Keep in mind, the cheap tablets will cut corners. Its storage uses eMMC instead of UFS. The Wi-Fi also can be weak. The touch screen can be unresponsive. You may want to take all these into consideration.
So don't buy the best value... over pay and get slow tec which is not considered good value. The G88 CPU is at the point where you pull you hair sometimes due to how slow the thing works.
I will say it again, get at least a G99 which is equivalent to a SD695.
I mentioned a laptop that is less money and is about 300% faster.... but it has a 8.4" screen which to me is the best size. Here is a video that describes the two CPUs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOTF59QjxDg
I will add a story for you as well. 12 years ago I purchased a i7 3rd gen... they all said the exact same thing you have said... all he want to do is.... he does not need more speed for what he wants to do... it will work slow but will work fine for his needs... TO ME this is ALL BULLSHIT. The faster you buy your system today the longer it will last in the real world. OH... and back to my story, I use my 12 year old laptop daily
You mean... does the engine speed matter... YES IT DOES.
The slowest Chip I would use is the G99. This one is the G88... it is way too slow.
Both the processor and storage on this are extremely slow, but it should be fine for streaming video (the Plus model, at least, is Widevine L1 compatible).

Agreed, it's perfectly capable of streaming video while you're doing cardio. Plus web browsing and general media consumption. Wouldn't rely on this for any productivity work though.
How is the bloatware on this? I have a Fire HD 10 2021 and will never buy another POS Amazon Fire product. I can't have more than 2 apps open and sometimes that bogs down. It seems whatever Amazon is doing the background processes cause the issue. I have enabled dev mode and have set it to no background processes but the app I use still shows them running. After I kill them in the background app application everything is good for a little while at least.

TU.
At least on T-Mobile and Verizon you can shove a tablet SIM previously activated into an uncertified device.

Only issue I can see is non standard case, so harder to find a wall mount or charging cradle.
