Thanks for sharing this. I was curious after reading what you said and..

GPT: The difference between Dove's "beauty bar" and traditional soap lies in their formulation, ingredients, and effects on the skin.

1. Formulation & Ingredients
• Dove Beauty Bar: It is not technically soap but rather a syndet bar (synthetic detergent bar). It contains mild surfactants, moisturizing ingredients like glycerin and stearic acid, and about ¼ moisturizing cream to help hydrate the skin.
• Traditional Soap: Made from natural fats and an alkaline substance (like lye), true soap undergoes saponification, which can be more drying due to its higher pH.

2. pH Levels
• Dove Beauty Bar: Has a pH of around 5.5–7, which is closer to the skin's natural pH.
• Soap: Typically has a higher pH (around 9–10), which can strip the skin of natural oils, leading to dryness.

3. Effect on Skin
• Dove Beauty Bar: Gentler and more moisturizing, making it ideal for people with dry or sensitive skin.
• Soap: Can be more cleansing but also drying, as it removes natural oils from the skin.

4. Cleansing Properties
• Dove: Cleans effectively but leaves behind a moisturizing layer.
• Soap: Cleanses more aggressively but can cause tightness or dryness.

Conclusion

If you have sensitive, dry, or easily irritated skin, Dove's Beauty Bar is a milder, more moisturizing option than regular soap. However, traditional soap may be better for oily or acne-prone skin, depending on the formulation.

I ran out of Dove one time and paid about $1.50 per bar at my local Target. I will never do that again. I jump on these deals every time they hit the $0.80 per bar mark. This deal came out to be $0.65 per bar with 15% S&S before tax.

Just be aware that nowhere on the package does this say soap because legally, they can't unless it's actually soap. If you don't mind, then grab the deal. But there is a reason it only says "beauty bar".

Dove leaves YOUR skin greasy and slimy. Dove leaves MY skin feeling clean but not dried out. Soap wrecks my skin.

Try Dove for Men. I don't like these white bars for the same reason, but the Dove for Men doesn't leave the slimy feeling.

Good stuff but the bars last 1/3 as long and for that reason I'll never buy it again unless significantly cheaper than the regular bars.

I'll also add the coupon isn't appearing for me on this deal and it may be dead.
