unless building a PC and you absolutely REQUIRE the onboard graphics of this? Do not get a 5700G (or 5700 non-X). A 5700X has double the cache, PCIE Gen 4, and is faster. Or get the 5700X3D and get the best gaming chip that's available today on AM4.

5700X is $10 more, and does not come with a heat sink so that is an additional cost - and is only an option if you already have a video card - so say $20 for the heatsink. The cheapest video card that is even *vaguely* equivalent to the 5700G is the GeForce GT 1030, for at least $70.

So the 5700X is going to cost at least $100 more, overall, if you don't already have a GPU.

(Now, if you *do* already have a reasonable GPU then absolutely do get the 5700X; for $30 more it really is a much better CPU if you don't need the integrated graphics).

The Ryzen 7 5700x3d is $100 more than the 5700g all by itself, so totally different market segment.

like I said, if you require the onboard graphics, then do it. But for someone just thinking it's a "cheaper" way to get a R7 gaming chip? They're getting fleeced with a much worse chip.

Decent price. Used ones go for ~$120 on eBay.

Would this still be noticeably faster than a 4th gen Intel (i5-4430)? I do ZERO gaming, just multitasking Office apps and heavy web browsing (40-80 open tabs) with background music streaming, zero video or music editing. Am only upgrading due to evil MS phasing out Win10 support in October.

Yes. Considerably faster.
