Its got a 58mm group head, a 3 way solenoid and two pids.
It also comes with both single and double wall baskets and a standard well built 58mm portafilter and metal tamper. Was easy enough to get a cheap well built bottomless 58mm portafilter.
It also does seem to have a PRV or OPV. I have no idea what cutoff pressure they are set to.
I miss having a built in manometer ( pressure gauge ).
It pulls perfectly fine / good / great espresso. You can use your adjective of choice. Flavor is highly subjective.
I roast my own beans as well as purchase from local roasters.
The unit does do pre infusion.
I have not used the auto milk frother. The manual steam wand has enough power to make latte art. It is loud.
I dont usually make milk drinks and its usually only two back to back double shots at a time. I have on occasion made a ton of espresso's in a row without interruption.
I also have the bambino, a delonghi, a farberware, a ninja cafe lux as well as access to several high end espresso machines.
This one is easily the best overall of entry level semi auto espresso machines that i own followed by the ninja. Its a slick deal in my opinion at $150 plus tax.
One would usually need to spend 2x to 3x that, on a good grinder or luck into a good sale. The baratza encore esp is really good for its price point and i have seen it dip to $150.

Quality of espresso? That's a very wrong question IMO. You need decent quality beans that are not too old, you need to grind the beans and distribute the ground evenly around the puck, apply even pressure... Not going to repeat the whole nine yards. All in all, this machine can pull great espresso if you do it right. Also, the buttons are programmable so that you can adjust the timing.
I didn't purchase the milk frother attachment. As mentioned above, the steam wand is fine as long as you don't overfill the milk jug.
Finally, I personally think Breville machines are decent, but seriously overpriced when they can still make profit selling at high end home goods store after 20% off during holiday seasons.
$150 is a no brainer, but would be better if sold without the milk frother and sold for less.
