I checked my file in ChexSystem.com and there's this entry:
Inquirer: BANK OF HOPE; 1701 W REDONDO BEACH BLVD, GARDENA, CA 90247Phone Number: 213.251.2274 Inquiry Date: 01/30/2025Public record information on file at Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions was utilized for this inquiry. Should you wish to request your file disclosure from Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions you may contact them at: LexisNexis Risk Solutions Consumer Center, P.O. Box 105108, Atlanta, GA 30348-5108, Phone number: 1-866-897-8126

So they did pull Chex report. Not sure if my application was denied because I'm a churner or some other reason.

They're a Korean-American bank, so 88 is indeed a lucky number to them. So $388 instead of "unlucky" $400.
I never heard it....

You don't know much about Asian culture then. Number 8 is considered a lucky number in Asian culture, and 8/8/xxxx is a very popular wedding date. Number 4 is considered an unlucky number.

They collected all my information. SSN, employer, DL, Etc. They sent me a 6-digit security code to my phone, which I correct entered into their website. After entering the correct 2FA code, it asked for it *again*, and an email came through rejecting my checking account application without explanation. Bizarre. Never turned away from an account in my life. Oh well. There goes my personal information into another database.
thanks for this warning. i tried one of these other SD deals from a bank i never heard of years ago and not only did they want all my info, but they wanted scanned copies of my ids and weird things like that, totally not worth it, all these companies act so arrogant and demanding info from you and then inevitably have some data breech like clock work.

For those who don't know, they just recently settled their lawsuit in 2023 from their 2018 Data Breach - see this article: https://topclassactions.com/lawsu...ettlement/

Hopefully they're not just collecting our data for another data breach by just giving us the $388 bonus EEK! Frown shake head

I suggest you try again and choose Unemployed. I was getting auto-rejected so I called them up for a reason and that was why.
If you don't mind explain or pm me what's the purpose of filling out unemployed instead employed. does it make a difference in terms of receiving the money reward? Thanks

no. it was just for people getting auto rejected. but appreantly you can just reply to that rejection email with a copy of your drivers license and they will still process your application no problem.

Too bad there aren't any websites that verify which checking acct promos work with general ACH deposits & which checking acct promos strictly require employer based direct deposits, to qualify for the bonuses :' (

Yeah, and due to the bonuses not paying out until the offer is over, it'll be a crap shot. I guess we could just ACH in from a couple different accounts that seem to trigger for most other banks, and hope for the best. It's almost $400 payout, and only $1k moved, vs the usual $250ish moving $3-5k around.
