This is thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 5 docks are now available and Apple laptops have shipped with Thunderbolt 4 for years. Check to compare with your current hardware to see if this will actually downgrade your connection speeds before buying. This is old dead stock that companies couldn't move so they sold the lot to woot, and here we are.

Great docking station, I've had mine for a couple years and it is a work horse. Wish I grabbed it at this price, it's a steal.

amazing dock with perfect ports. i don't need it but want to buy it! yes its TB3 but 99% of the items you will connect won't even utilize anywhere near that speed. You DON"T need TB4 or TB5.

Well. Hold on there. All ports on this are capped at 10gbps. It's likely that some devices will have higher speeds. Especially the pro class.

I've been using this dock 4-5 days a week since 2020. I work from home, run 3 monitors (2x 1080p, 1x 1440p) and power my laptop. It's been rock solid. I know people are saying it is old and there are newer thunderbolt standards, if you need those, pay more to get them. Id be interested in someone providing a more competitive price on something with comparable functionality.

I love how all of the laptop mfrs. moved all of the useful ports and peripherals out to a separate box you now have to buy. I guess (?) it saves some weight, and laptops on the whole are much cheaper than they were 15-20 years ago, especially when accounting for inflation. Then they put these complicated protocols "one port to rule them all" that's glitchy, has security issues, connectivity issues, overheats, isn't universally compatible, etc. Feels like change for the sake of change.

You can buy an entire mini PC that has all of this stuff on it for barely any more $.

Would this work with dual display on MacBook Pro. I read some restrictions on Mac OS not doing dual display with USB C docks

And having a Costco manager that marks down everything. Then you'll be the one posting all the ymmv deals.
